ok, i was thinking. Should I make a mario in sonic land hack? I was thinking making all enemies bad guys from the game and stuff. Goombas can be mice from flying battery, Walking rocks from sonic and knuckles can be koopas. It'll take a lot of work but im up for it, should i try it?

edit/update: First world OW was a failure.. Aww.. so I'm making a new one. Lol, floating island included!

if you can change all the GFX, then go for it. It would take a lot of work.
As long as you don't just take the levels from sonic and put them in SMW, in other words, if your just making your own levels with sonic gfx and stuff, then go for it, sounds okay to me.
lol. ok. I will do it. but if anyone could help out that would be a big help. I'll start with bullet bill shooter. I have an idea on what to use for it.
well, one or two copies from a sonic game would be ok, but don't do too many.

That is impossible due to sonic games having loops and stuff.

yeah, but not all levels. =P They just have you being able to stand on ceiling because of gravity
Some sonic levels don't have loops, or walking on ceilings, you could just try to make those.
I was thinking of starting a Sonic game made from a SMW rom with one playable character per game file and if you would beat both, you'll unlock a 3rd one where you'll play the last battle.
That would require a boat load of ASM.

It is fast, follows mario, jumps over shells, and stays on edges. This is a rough copy as i said, still adding more shading to it, and more!

Quite a few ExGFX from sonic have already been submitted to the site, those would help you out.

Those too, I'm just sayin...
*sigh* This is a problem with a lot of hacks I've seen lately. They have some interesting ideas and concepts, but level design is thrown out the window. I hope you don't get too caught up in graphics to make some quality level design.

Tweak the physics to make mario go faster. Although you would have to fix the castle ending seqences. Also, use angel island zone from sonic 3 as the first worlds song, i love that song.
I've always liked the Sonic 3&K gfx. Since you'll obviously have less gfx space to work with, it'll definitely be a challenge, but if you can pull this off, I think it'll be worth it. Music-wise, I'm pretty sure there are loads of Sonic 3&K midis out there.
