So let's say that you were somehow forced to go without the internet for like a year or so, and you wasn't given any prior warnings. How would you expect other people will react? (ether short term or after an extended period of time).
I would assume that on this site I probably wouldn't be missed that much but in other sites/community's I have done alot of work towards other projects that I would leave hanging if I would drop off the face of the Earth. I'm sure that probably would annoy alot of people that I made promises too. Also I made quite a few friends that I met on the SM64 hacking scene, which I guess would probably miss me quite a bit.
EDIT:*Looks at the responses this thread has gotten.*
OK then, what would you do to get yourself known and remembered if such a scenario was to happen?

Well I'm not well known on ANY sight I go one, but for the few people that like me on the net they wouldn't care.

Perhaps mention a few times how quiet it is without me bitching about something, but otherwise nothing really. Not that it's a bad thing though, mind you.

If I had to go for 1 year without leaving a word, I'd probably get demoted and all. But aside from that, I won't be surprised if people would go all like "Ersanio died". I've seen people say this about Icegoom too. They would be right though, because I'd shoot myself if I really had to survive a whole year without internet.
I'm not sure if people would miss me though. There's bound to be someone who would miss me.

I think a few people would miss me, probably only the users are friends with me on here. Most users probably wouldn't notice my absence.

I believe I was actually gone for 3 weeks once all of a sudden since I had no access to my computer and when I came back a few people thought I was dead.
If I were gone for a year I could never imagine how things would go in peoples' minds if that's the reaction 3 weeks gave them.

Who knows. I guess my closest friends would be the ones that would show concerns whatsoever. Other than that my only guess is that other people would be saying something like, "oh hey, do you notice he doesn't seem to show up for awhile now?" "oh i see".
Not sure really. ┐('~`;)┌

If I was gone for a year, people would forget about me. People come and go, that's the internet for you.

In this smaller group of friends of mine from another site, there's this one guy that dropped off the face of the internet one day about five years ago. He's more of an inside joke at this point. I imagine the same exact thing would happen with me.
On SMWC, I doubt anyone would really notice!

Honestly I'm not sure. Perhaps someone will be mad cause that would mean dropping out of a team hack I'm involved in. I don't know if people would notice or care honestly.
My youtube? There's a possibility that somebody would miss me at the same time not.

Being the hardcore internet addict i am, people would think i'm either dead or insane. I don't think i would be missed, though.

After the one year: 'Hi guys, I'm back '
Everyone else: 'You were gone?'

On here, I doubt anyone would really notice that I'm gone unless they see one of my old posts and see that I'm inactive.
On Youtube, some people might wonder why I didn't post a video for so long. Some people might miss me, others would be happy that I'm gone.
And on a different forum, most users would miss me, but some others would be overjoyed about my absence. The whole forum would degrade into spam, though, due to there being no other moderators.

When I disappeared from SMWC for about 2 years, I don't think anyone cared. The same thing would happen if I leave again.

Shit, this thread is depressing.

Most realistic answer I have read in this thread so far.
Not to be cruel, but it's true. If you don't get recognised by being at the top you wont be recognsed when you're gone. And me, I'm fine with that.

- Sonikku will have noone to give his loli to, and thus contemplate suicide
- TLMB will find me and kill me for not completing Bonni's Quest
- Ersanio and Binrazan will take over my channel and make it a successful fresh-produce market
- Jimmy52905 will most likely leave as well
- imamelia will probably start questioning everyone about me
- K3fka will take my role as "The Kicker" in #serioushax
- Aqualakitu will fight with K3fka over that title
- leod will throw a party, but it'll be about something totally unrelated because he won't even know I left
- Adam will attend said party
- so will everyone else
- except SNNNNNN because he'll throw his own party related to my absence
- My Youtube channel will be filled with comments like "WHY U NO GIVE BOSSES???!!!"
Yeah I can see all this happening

This.
Also, since I don't use facebook or any of these things, I don't think my RL friends would notice unless they e-mail me and they see I never replied. And finally, having no access to the internet at all would make university researches a lot harder.

I don't exactly know how well I'm known on the site, so I couldn't say if most people would notice that I was gone or not, but I know there are a few people here who I'm good friends with that would probably miss me and wonder where I went.
