I think we had a thread on titling the hack at one point and for some reason I feel like the consensus settled on SMWCP2 without a subtitle. Could be wrong though.

Was that thread really fair, though? If memory serves, we had four variations of 'SMWCP2' plus some random name that, many felt, didn't really fit the project. No brainstorming involved at all- just an out-of-the-blue vote. I mean, to me it felt like a slanted election from the start.
Of course, if people really want SMWCP2 to be the name, that's fine- I understand that we want to proudly display the community name up-front. To me, though, it seems like a wasted opportunity, is all.

Relevant.
Also relevant.

A subtitle wouldn't be that bad, actually. Assuming no more brainstorming will happen, we could either just go with "The Production Line" or use it to clarify the acronym "SMWCP" (making the subtitle something along the lines of "Another SMWC Production").
Either way, there's some space left in one of the ExGFX files the title logo uses, so if we want we can fancy the subtitle up a bit instead of having to use the default layer 3 letters.

Also, we could use sprite tiles for some of the SMWCP2 logo if we wanted to use more colors. (Not necessarily all of it, just some of the overlapping letters.)

Wait, i was wondering, how many slot does the SMWCP2 logo use in the ExGFXs?

I haven't actually inserted it yet (or even bothered opening the ZIP), but if I recall, WYE said that it took up two. Come to think of it, eve if it DOESN'T use two, we should continue under the assumption that it does just in case we decide to add anything more to it.

I needed two slots for it (technically, one and a half, so we've got quite a bit of space for a potential subtitle there).
Still haven't signed up for the slots, by the way. Is it safe to assume the logo is final? If so, then: Originally posted by WhiteYoshiEggNote that I've used the ExGFX files 1A1 and 1A2 as well as some tiles on page 16, but didn't reserve either since I'm under the impression this is far from final.
If nobody capable of it does it before me, I'll be reserving them tomorrow (again, assuming it's wanted/needed).

Ah, but what slots exactely? BG1/FG3 or BG2/BG3? Because if i start mapping them without knowing it i risk to map the wrong tiles and to do it again.

No. It's unoriginal, lazy, uninspired, and doesn't capture what the hack is; a serious (yet fun) collaboration.
I'll say "SMWCP2: The Production Line" sounds good.

And I'll say that sounds absolutely ghastly. Opinions! Opinions for everyone!
In all seriousness, though, it's good that discussion about this is starting up again, but we probably shouldn't commit to anything just yet. Get the meat of the game out of the way first, I say.

I bring it up now because the trailer marioVSshadow is making might display a logo. I'm not sure whether it would look good if the name suddenly changed for whatever subsequent trailers there are and the final game; I doubt we'll have anywhere near as much publicity as commercially viable games tend to have, so I think a certain degree of consistency is important.
And for the record, I'm suggesting a different title, not a subtitle.

This happens many times with official games, although I agree that it will be better to have an official name.

But it's a sequal. How would a completely different name make any sense? I'd personally leave the name as is. It's short and to the point. Although I don't feel we need a subtitle either, I'm not against one.

And yes, we do want the connection between this and the prequel, even if that one was rather suboptimal.

Something to remember: This hack doesn't necessarily need to be considered a sequel to SMWCP1-- the reason why it's currently referred to as SMWCP2 could just be because it's the second SMWCentral production.

Frankly, I do not consider this a sequel to SWMCP at all; in fact, personally I'd rather there be no connection between the two whatsoever. I think they're completely different projects.
Of course, if the majority sees otherwise, I suppose I'll just drop the subject.

There are several references to SMWCP in this hack; the most prominent are the appearances of Megadmin and the Sanctuary Fortress boss.

Having a few references doesn't make it a sequel- I think you're kind of missing the point I'm trying to make.
But eh, never mind- forget I said anything. It's clear this is considered a non-issue.

Axem's point is both Productions feel remarkably different, both inside and out, to the point that they both can be seen as individual projects. So far, 2 feels more like a single game while 1 leaned more towards a collection of levels done by various users of this site (not some "elite hackers" like some morons would like to have you believe)
A couple of references to a previous adventure does not make something a sequel.
