Looks nice but what about some more decorations or more water? Just to put some extra decoration.

Okay, how does this look? I also changed the path of the submap a bit so that body of water actually has a purpose lol.

I like it, it's well-decorated and I like that waterfall you did there, but I think it's a bit flat, that's my opinion.

Yeah, I'm always a bit impatient when creating a non-flat submap. I'll do some more work on it later, but for right now, it's finished.
Thanks.

I'd suggest also throwing in some custom palletes (unless you're going for completely vanilla) since the standard palletes are an eyesore to me (and probably a few others) now.
I'm thinking maybe an autumn like pallete may be a nice touch. Maybe with a little green there though.

I have a level that I want level design tips about. I have decided to post this here because people have said I should.
Anyways, I need advice about my level. It's pretty close to level A, but this level is on land! Can you tell me what you think about it?

That's what I'm planning on doing later. I'm always hectic about making a overworld, and the palette was last on my mind lol.

I think he was talking about me.
As for you, this seems like a non-water version of Donut Secret 1. My advice, be original with your design. I'm pretty sure all of us has played the original Mario World before, and just removing the water physics in a level from that game is not innovation.

How could you get confused about that when MVS's post was before yours and Lotica quoted that post? (talking to lugi-mario)
Cool palette though, not so cool level design as Lotica said.

I agree. The non-water version of Donut Secret 1 looks pretty unorginal.
The palette looks nice. You could also make it brown-ish or green with a big amount of grey for an autumn level. Also changing the BG palette to a autumn-ish one would fit more to the theme.

@ Lotica: Nice submap overall, only the waterfall is a bit linear, you could maybe add a land part coming out of the waterfall maybe. Also, the palette could also been changed here.
@lugi-mario2563: The level looks pretty good, I'm not very found of those glass blocks since they has another purpose in the original game. The red palette is kinda cool, is the grass red for a purpose or is it just for the change of it?
So yeah, I've been messing around again in LM. Turns out this time I made some of the clouds from the original 105 BG exanimated. This was a rather annoying job to do, but I think it turned out quite cool. The level itself is some sort of test level, which I actually could work further on... maybe

Hey guys! It's been a while, and unfortunately I have nothing of my creation to share. I haven't hacked in like 3 months. However, my good buddy noon is hard at work on a sequel to his successful A Maxi Mini Hack. Here's the first level he completed.

you know, i really wish he would just get his own dang account on here already so i don't have to keep updating his stuff for him. it's bad enough people get me and him confused because i submit his hacks. >_<

luigi-mario: I like the idea of taking away water from the Donut Lake!
Uhrix: The BG palettes look trippy! The clouds add to the trippyness.
lol at the ending. ;)
Zildjian: Tell Noon to get an account ;_; His work is really nice and I'd like to see him have his own thread to show off his random stuff XD
Nice palettes!

I'll see in doing that later on. Thanks man. Also, nice job on your level so far. Hope to see more progress on the level!
Anyways, here's another update to the submap, with a new palette. Does it look too dark or what? Please let me know.

The fact that your and his style of hacking are similar doesn't help, I reckon. I've always adored your style, but Noon seems to do a nice job at it as well as keeping up the high standards of level design.
However, I think he should change the cacti to look more like a decoration than an actual part of the FG. I would have tried to dodge the cacti if I were to play that. Also, the edge of the clouds in the BG doesn't look very good on the dark blue BG color. I'd change them to look more transparent on the edges, instead of making a contrast.
On the topic of transparency, and for those who haven't seen my thread:

This BG gave me a headache. I don't know how many hours I spend making it, but I'm sure certain people could make a whole level in the same amount of time. Also, slightly outdated full shot: link

I think I will continue making level A with no water, but first I will make a sort of collect 100 purple coins (Super Mario Galaxy) level.
Screenshot in ZSNES:
The grey always-turning turn blocks will set your coins to 0, and the switch palace blocks with the strange pallet will move you right and will not let you go back. I am also using the Yoshi Topsy Turvy: spirit who loves money music.

@lugi-mario2563 Nice gimmick man, though from what I see so far, you can already get like one-fourth of those purple coins at the beginning. Try not to make it so blatantly easy, meaning so easy that a pre-schooler can do it in five seconds.
Also, fix that palette. It looks odd, and the mountains don't look great.

Instead of those blocks, which fell REALLY artificial and awkward imo, you could just use a levelinit code for levelasm that sets your coins to 0.

I don't know ASM
@Lotica: This is just a screenshot to show what the level will be like. I have no intention of putting a jackpot coins at the beginning. I will also fix the pallet. Maybe a red foreground with blue and green mountains?
