@ PowerStrike - Your OW design is very good but maybe you want to change the palettes.
@ Lunatic Wolf - I like the BG combination and the Vanilla feeling.

So, after not opening Lunar Magic for far too long, I made this. Also, I'm actually kind of liking it!
I really could use all the comments on this as I could get. I want to add more decoration, but I'm not sure what else to add. Ignore the status bar pallette.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, and ignore that empty space to the very far right of screenshot two. Don't know how I missed that, but it is unfinished.

That's a really nice gradient you have their. It sort of gives off a Northern Lights-esque effect without being too overbearing on the foreground. It would be cool to see it in action.

I don't know, I would like it a bit... smoother.. although I can't ask for much being the limitations of hacking, ah well.

The gradient is cool, but the fake isn't. Use the LevelASM and create a real HDMA, it's really better...
About your level design, hm... 60% good.

Thats actually a very well done "fake HDMA" gradient, and level ASM would be no better, unless the level had vertical scroling+the gradient had to follow the screen or was experienced enough to easyly make it through level ASM.

Actually, the level design is very good and the "Fake" HDMA is very good, it's smooth and colorful.
Very good.

You can't really say much about the actual design, because it's only two screens and not a whole lot of enemies.
As for the fake HDMA effect, it's quite nice, although sharp. I don't really know how to improve it, though. I like the way you implemented the clouds in this one, as they fit well with both the FG and BG. Did you use layer 2 for it, or did you actually make GFX for the overlapping clouds?
Also,

Any and all suggestions/comments would be appreciated. It's for SMWCP2, and I want it to be as good as it can get.

Very good.
It's only two screens, so you can't say a thing about the quality of the level design.

@ MrDeePay - Whatever, I'm liking the way the level are being made, it's my opinion, ok?
@ GN - (Again, I'm liking the way the level are being made). Well, there's nothing wrong in this screen, maybe you want to add more enemies but overall this screenshot seems fine.

But the level design can't be avaliated at all with only two screenshots.
EDIT: I know I'm contradicting myself, I just change my oppinion e.e
Also, GN, this is great! I'm talking about the graphics and the water effect that I know not how you did...

Saying something "is just your opinion" isn't going to stop people from questioning your judgment on a comment. Fact of the matter is that "opinion" or not, you cannot make a proper assessment on level design through two screens.
Well, maybe you can, but the action in the screens is either one extreme or the other.

I was actually just going for decoration ideas or pallette comments. The opinions about my level design were not a goal for me to reach, though I do appreciate the comments on them. However, I wouldn't want my level design skills based on only two screenshots because I don't know how accurate the comments could be.
Anyway...
Thanks for all the comments so far, guys!

It's currently on Layer 2, but I like the idea of just having a GFX file for it. Then, I could use Layer 2 for something else I want to add.

Oh, and GN, I think that your screenshot is really nice. However, I think it might look a little better by adding a slight blue tint to the castle foreground. Just a thought, and I hope you keep up the good quality!

Random vanilla stuff, a natural progression:

Are the palettes alright?

Thanks for the feedback, guys!
Suns, in the first screen, the pallete is good, but if you use a more dark color in the dirt and chimney (I don't know if you can change the color of the smoke, into a more dark one), it will fit better. And in the third screen, you should change the colors of the mountain, like in the first screen. Other than that, you did a good job.

Thanks, the last screen is brighter because there's supposed to be a night-to-day progression here. First one is screen is about 3 AM, and the third screen is about 5 AM.

These palettes are fine. You could make the brown in the first screen a little bit darker to fit more the darker colours but it's fine as it is. I like the time transition.

Early screens of my latest level.
Currently calling this level "Blaze Mines". Fire is roasting behind the fences (fire animates). You can't really tell from these screens, but I'm using the original SMW cave BG.
This level will appear in the "Cookie and Cream" (aka bonus world) world in TCCR (collab hack).
The rule of any cookie and cream level is to have a balance of vanilla and chocolate graphics. I think I’m doing a decent job of that so far.

Cool. I thought the lava behind the fences is glitchy things, but it's really lava
