| Tip: When you're about to release your hack, make a patch first, patch it to a clean ROM, and then test that. This way, you are testing both the hack AND the patch. |

The bottom part of the mushrooms look really awkward, even for a cartoon-y style, but the rest is awesome!

i really dig the look. mario's placement on them seems awkward though. i thought they would act like plain gradual slopes.

I'm getting a large old-school Rayman vibe from those graphics, B. Their absolutely delicious to look at

Very nice, broozer. That is looking neat! Tell me, do you plan on releasing any of your gfx? I haven't seen any levels from you or anything...

@Underway
That is beautiful! The level design seems smooth, the texture is nice, the atmosphere is great, the pallete is nice and dark, and the graphics look very attractive, for vanilla I mean. Everything flows nicely, please continue.

Remaking one of my older levels.

Might darken the decoration bricks a bit. Possibly give them a darker outline to match the style a bit better. Otherwise I think it looks pretty good.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! :)

Yeah, I knew I wouldn't be able to satisfy all tastes with those stems, assuming that by "bottom part" you meant them. I will see what I can do to improve their look, even though they received more likes than I was expecting them to. :/

As a matter of fact, they do. The way Mario is placed in that screen may look awkward indeed, but I can assure you it looks much more natural in-game.

Glad to know my graphics can be compared to Rayman. Never actually played any games from the series, but I have grown to really like their cartoonish graphical style. Thanks a bunch, T. :)

Thanks, and yes, I do plan on releasing them, as I recall having mentioned before somewhere. I have kind of moved on from truly hacking SMW, as in, making levels and stuff, since I don't have the time anymore to develop a serious hack, sadly. Thus, the only kind of work you will be seeing from me from now on is likely going to be graphical work that I intend to release for public usage.

Seems like an authentic level. However, I don't know if it is just me being an ignorant brat, but this is, like, the fifth consecutive level I see from you that feels pretty much the same - a somewhat mystical, dark forest with lots of decoration... unless all of the screenshots you have shown off lately depict the same level. Don't take me wrong, you really do make great usage of vanilla graphics mixing them up with some slightly chocolate stuff, but it would be nice if you could show us some more variety in your levels.

That looks quite nice. It's also great to see you back - I have always liked the style you roll with for your levels. I would love to possibly get to see in the future a video or something that could make me get a better idea of your actual level design, though.

Thanks. Right now I'm just working on the early levels to I'm trying to keep them fairly simple. I had the first world all but done before I left so right now most of what I'm doing is remaking those levels (slight tweaks and improvements and a bit more length). School is eating up a good chunk of my time at the moment, but hopefully I'll be able to show off more than just screenshots before long.

@Giant Shy Guy: Looks pretty cool. I see you had inspiration for this. Graphics fit to eachother very well, and this level seems very fun to play. =)
So I have finished the main map for my hack, except some places and decorations. It's an empty version, but I'll fill it in with decoration and some additional hills later.

I hope it's ok. Don't report perspective errors, sorry, but it's very hard to fix them in such complicated OW, and I hope there aren't many of them. =)

Ignore everything apart from the character:

My first time drawing a human player.. comments?
(colours will be changed on him, once I decide a nice pallete..)

Giant Shy Guy: hey, a really generic first level. Pretty nicely designed, but it seems kind of flat. Try to not have such a long ledge of grass, but try to vary the terrain a bit, and add in some more ledges etc. But yeah, pretty good start so far.
Teo: Alright, it's official. You have the best OW ever made so far on the whole central! =O
Really, it's so complicated, yet so pleasent to look at. The palettes are really nice and everything seems to blend well together. The different ledges and heights make it fresh and just... well, amazing.
I can't believe you can make an OW THAT pretty man. Just, perfectly done! =D
Ninja-edit: Looks really cool, iRhyiku. Those shades are badass =O
Seems like the best human character in SMW I've seen so far, so great job.

B.. B-But, there's no perspective errors...
Over all this map is so cool, but I guess you should change the palettes a bit. I can do it for you, becauuse now it seems to be too shiny.

Thanks! My inspiration is mostly the amount of hack which forget what the Super Mario series is - a simple game made to be fun and made for the player to play through and visit every nook and cranny just for the sake of accomplishment.
The graphics, especially for the sprites, are not final - I'm still compiling and making some stuff =D

I was going for a Super Mario first level feel. I really dislike how people think that level without ledges and other stuff contributes to boringness and fun.
Take for one NSMB 1-1. It's very "flat" in terms of most people's standards here, but if you think about it, did you have fun playing the level?
I know I did.
Throughout the level I tried showing the player how things work - the basic of the basics. A level doesn't have to have tons of platforms to be fun, as I learned.
