Yes, I was quite surprised to see a lack of Mario Kart 3DS thread since I'm quite excited about it.

In this game, it seems the developers have chosen to take Mario Kart closer back to its roots once again... The game reintroduces coins and from the trailers, seems to eliminate bikes (although this is unconfirmed, it may have just been a 50cc such as seen in Mario Kart Wii where it was karts only).

The gimmick of tricking as introduced in Mario Kart Wii still remains and still look as stylish as ever.

As in every Mario Kart game from Super Circuit onwards, classic stages from the ancestor games have been reintroduced as new tracks. To name a small few, we see the return of tracks such as Luigi's Mansion, Airship Fortress, and Maple Treeway.

One of the more notable gimmicks in Mario Kart 3DS was the customisable karts. The game allows you to further customise your karts to get optimum performance from it. You can select your body and then your wheels, but the wheel selection isn't just for show, just like with your karts body, wheels affect your performance, for example, bigger wheels will do better off road while smaller wheels will struggle.

Another notable gimmick is the introduction of handgliders and sub, propellers. The new tracks include sections where you will be using a handglider to free-fly in the air as well as underwater sections where your kart will submarine through various obsticals. Your handglider also seems to be customisable.

Well let's here it. What are your opinions on the new game so far? What do you hope to see? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it?

You mean Mario Kart 7?

You know, it looks interesting with the kart customization and hang gliders. I might pick it up when it comes out before the end of the year.
Quite a shame, No Bikes lol
A customizable kart seems interesting, but you can only use parts from other karts
The coins return, I guess they could be used to increase the acceleration
Or use coins to purchase Items and maybe upgrade your Kart

The hanglider and sub propeller is something I wanna try myself! Lol

Im sure there wont be as many Characters, Karts in the 3DS
Mario Kart Wii had a big number of character roster and I guess there wont be any Tricks
I hope it fixes some of the horrible mistakes they made in Mario Kart Wii. Namely the fact that they took away the temporary invulnerability after getting hit (which led to tons of situations where you would be bombarded with items and go from 1st to 12th). I'm also glad they're removing bikes and I'm really excited for kart customization. I also hope the maps are better than what we saw in MKWii, as those ones were, for the most part, very disappointing to me. There were a few exceptions, but I was really disappointed with Rainbow Road in particular.

I heard something about Retro studios working on designing the tracks or something. Retro always makes good stuff, so if that's true then we're set. (Then again, they could just be helping out with that ONE DKCR track that was shown in a trailer.)

Anyways, 8 player 60 fps 3D online raving with no bikes pretty much makes this an immediate purchase for me, too bad it won't come out till December.
No bikes. ;_;
Yeah, I love bikes.

Anyways, I'm rather interested to see how they could use StreetPass with this game. For example, they could make it so you could race someone else's ghost or get extra parts for your car. There's a lot of things they could do with it.

I honestly dislike coins. But if coins exist for the sole purpose of purchasing new parts for your car, I'll really enjoy them. Somehow I get a Mario Party 5 Superduel Mode vibe from this whole idea.

One thing I'm worried about is trying to find a new character/kart to work with. I've been playing as Daisy with the Mach Bike for years, so finding something new will be difficult for me.

How they're going to handle retro courses is another thing. For example, will they try to put hang gliding in any of them? Maybe not, but it would be kind of strange to only experience hang gliding and underwater driving in the new courses. Well, as long as Moonview Highway isn't one of the retro courses I'm good.

One thing I'd like for local and online multiplayer would be an item selector like in Smash Bros. where you can remove blue shells and all the shit that constantly knocks you into 12th place. Why that wasn't in MKWii I really don't know. Also if they make it so you can have 7 other people play with you locally without having the game card in AND make it not lag at all like they did in Mario Kart DS, I will be a happy camper.

Speaking of online, I'd really like to see the online system be as great as it was in MKWii. I've never had a random disconnect in that game while online, and I've never had any lag. If they can do the same with this one, I will love Nintendo forever.

Alright this post is long enough.
Mario Kart DS was my favorite entry in the series by far, (oh yes, I was a snaker) so I'm really looking forward to this one. The additions they have are neat, like kart customization and the return of coins, and I'll probably spend many hours online. My main gripe with MKWii was some of the items, like the POW and mega mushroom, that unbalanced things a little too much. I'm all for items giving people behind an edge, but it should reward good players a little more than it did.

Another thing I've really liked since MKDS is the Nitro/Retro system. Going back to play MK64 and DD, one of my biggest gripes was the lack of tracks. 16 just wasn't enough. Doubling it, as well as seeing the return of some great tracks makes it all worthwhile. Plus, even if the track you wanted didn't make it this time, there's a good chance it'll be in the next Mario Kart, since so far they haven't had the same retro track in more than one game.
You know, it'd be great if they one day made another Mario Kart game in the style of Double Dash. That game is my second-favorite in the series, right behind DS, and I loved the concept of having 2 riders in the same kart. I also liked characters having a special item which was unique to them, but I can see how some may find that unbalanced.
I've actually only played DS and Wii, so I don't get much of any nostalgia, but I can say I certainly hope it'll improve the things of the wii, such as items. I get rather fed up when I'm doing rather poorly and finally get a good item, only for it to be erased when I'm squashed by a mega mushroom and then hit with a bomb or star or bullet bill until I'm dead last with a large distance to make up. I'm also pretty interested in what we may get on the side of battle mode. I rather enjoyed the battle mode on the DS version, and to a lesser extent on the wii (maybe it's the mega mushrooms, although 12-people battles are pretty awesome). On a side note, I'm looking forward to seeing how depth will feel in racing and battle. (I saw how depth works for starfox 64 3ds, so I have a bit of a feel)
It's Mario Kart 7. Get it right.

Anyway, I don't have a 3DS yet, so while I am excited for the game, there isn't anything I can do about it.
The customizable karts should be interesting, yet I have a feeling that everyone online will have the same designed karts.

Also I'm glad they're bringing back Maple Treeway, probably my favorite track ever. Other tracks I would like to have in the game would be DK Summit, and Yoshi Valley.

Oh and I sure hope they don't bring back the lightning cloud.
Its not gonna be called Mario Kart 7. It may be the seventh but thats just a working title. Its gonna be Mario Kart 3DS. Im certain of that.

Looks awesome. Im getting a 3DS for Xmas so I hope its out for then!
Yeah, it'd be a bit weird if they just started to number the titles now. It's not gonna be Mario Kart 7. :/
This game is gonna be epic :D

I am going to miss bikes, as I tend to play as Luigi or Birdo with a Mach Bike, or Baby Luigi with a Bullet Bike.

I'm not to keen on this hang glider business, or the coins. But kart customisation sounds amazing.

I look forward to this game.

So why did they create an official logo that said "Mario Kart 7"?

Mario Kart 7 is it's official and final name.
You know Super Mario 3D Land? When it was Super Mario 3DS there was a logo for that. :V

I'm pretty certain that you've never had mercy invincibility in any Mario Kart game's single player after getting hit. However, you've been granted mercy invincibility in Battle mode since about.... Double Dash!!
My list of wanted Retro stages:

SNES Donut Plains 3
SNES Vanilla Lake 1
SNES Bowser's Castle 3
N64 Yoshi's Valley
N64 Koopa Troopa Beach
GBA Mario Circuit
GBA Cheese Land
GBA Ribbon Road
GCN Wario Colosseum
GCN Daisy Cruiser
DS Luigi's Mansion*
DS Airship Fortress*
DS Waluigi Pinball
Wii Maple Treeway*
Wii Mushroom Gorge
Wii Daisy Circuit

* These ones are basically confirmed, so I put those in.

Battle Stages:

SNES Battle Course 2
N64 Double Deck
GBA Battle Course 2
GCN Tilt-a-Kart
DS Palm Shore

I didn't really like any of the new Wii Battle courses at all.

I agree with all these.
I dont think bikes will be in it, because of customizable karts. And the name is official too. Unless they change it for whatever reason.
Supposed release date is december 4th.

Kinda disappointed its back to 8 Players instead of MKWii's 12. Also I have a feeling mario kart 7 will be much more brutal mario kart wii was with items. They (nintendo) even said that blue shells would be more common. I hope you can at least get a mushroom in first place and use them to avoid blue shells like in MKWii.......

I've been waiting for a worthwhile multiplayer/online 3DS game, after 30 days of playing my 3ds, I just got bored of it. Don't even use it as much anymore. My nintendogs probably hate me. Although I've been replaying Mario and Luigi 2 on it, the circle pad is works great on it.
