Interesting. I notice they're using music from Mario Kart Wii there. I hope that's filler.
It's most definitely filler.

At this point, the only thing I want to know is if 150 CC is easier than it was in MKWii. That was fucking brutal.
To be fair, it was nice to have a more challenging Mario game for a change (even if it was just one of the spinoff titles).

I blame the difficulty of 150 CC on the wii moreso on the quirks of the wii version in general as have been mentioned.

What, you mean the Wii Wheel? You do realize that's not the only controller you can use, right? You can use the Wii Remote and nunchuck, the Classic Controller, or the Gamecube controller.
Hey, I saw a commercial for the 3DS earlier today that advertised the game as Mario Kart 7, so I'd say it's safe to assume that will be the official name.

More like the fact that 12 racers means more items on the track, and that means there can be scenarios where you go from first to last in just a few seconds.
Mario Kart 7 is going to be awesome, im looking forward to the new tracks, because they said RetroStudios would have make part of it, too.
And with DKCR they made a fantastic Jump'n'run so i hope for some awesome tracks
And i Hope that the drifting system is going to be like in all other mario karts. Not like MANUAL or AUTOMATIC because in automatic you can navigate your kart good but i still want to drift
but if you want to drift manually, the kart normally is hard to navigate and you have to drift in every courve
I didn't see a single Blue Shell in the gameplay video. Hopefully they've fixed that overpowered shit from MK Wii. Even on 50cc I still got hit by FOUR Blue Shells. I mean what the fuck is that about?!

Was hoping that, but apparently they disabled some items for the demo, such as blue shells, chain chomps, etc.
Hey, I haven't been paying much attention to the videos, but does this game have the same Drift Turbo as the Wii version, or as every other Mario Kart game? Because I personally hated the Wii's version of doing the Drift Turbo. I got so awesome at doing it in the DS version that winning the Grand Prix was made a hell of a lot easier. In the Wii Version, the Grand Prix is so hard for me that I haven't even finished 100cc because I got bored of it.

DAMNIT

But i hope they re-include the special items, cause those were bad-ass in DD.

Aside from that, the game looks promising, and i'll buy it when it comes out. Also, It will be called MK7, for future reference
Mario Kart wouldn't be nearly as fun without items like the Blue Shell. Yes, it's frustrating when it screws you over, but it also keeps everyone in balance. Humans are far smarter than the CPU players and can become far more skilled, so having powerful items keep everything in check.

The Blue Shell has been overpowered since Double Dash!!, the first game in the series where it could fly, explode and not damage anyone in its path. This isn't exclusive to Wii.

The problem is that the current Blue Shell screws you over simply for doing well. The old version could hit any other racers that were in its path, but the lead racer could extremely easily destroy the shell by cutting a corner so the shell would go off course or crash into a wall.

Also, I'm really disappointed that they decided to keep the whole "getting hurt too much takes away your item" thing. My least favorite part about Mario Kart Wii was how it was almost impossible to hold onto an item for more than 15 seconds because of bobombs and blue shells and lightning and POW blocks and mega mushrooms etc. I liked it when they had a Boo item that would steal players' items, because it was rare, and it was the only way to lose an item. I actually didn't mind most of the times a Boo stole my items in the older games because of that. But now it's just obnoxious.

Bob-ombs are easy to avoid unless they land like, right in front of you and you have no chance to drive out of the way. Success in MarioKart races largely lies in good, proper racing and good item management. With that, you can cut down the luck factor considerably.

As for "getting hurt too much and you lose your item", what game are you playing? The following items are the only ones that can cause a racer to drop their item if they're hit by it.

- Bullet Bill (stay out of the middle of the road when you see the warning).
- Star (avoid that racer unless they're specifically targeting you)
- POW Block (if you're not in the air when the third cue goes off).
- Lightning Bolt (if you're not in "auto-pilot" or under the effects of a Mega Mushroom.)
- Mega Mushroom (see Star)
- Blue Shell (can be avoided if you're in "auto-pilot" or use a Mushroom right before it slams down towards you).
- Bowser Shell (DD!! only)
- Chain Chomp (DD!! only)
- Any Mushroom (DD!! only if the driver was carrying an item)
- Any Mushroom (DD!! onwards in Battle mode, you don't lose an item in DD, but in that game and since you lose a balloon instead).
What also annoys me about MK Wii is that they included the Blue Shell in Battle Mode.

I was referring to MKWii. I know it's possible to avoid hazards, but there are a lot of times when something will come up out of the blue and catch you off guard. And, if I ever try to hold on to a mushroom while in first place for example, to avoid a blue shell, I usually end up losing it before one even comes. A lot of track hazards make you lose items too, though mostly I lose my items to POW blocks which seem fairly common.

Also, slightly off track, but couldn't mushrooms steal opponents balloons in Super Mario Kart battle mode as well? I really can't recall too clearly but I thought it was possible to steal balloons in the earlier games. I'm probably just crazy.

That's the POINT, though. IMO, the MK64 version is UNDERpowered. If the first-place racer can avoid it, why fire it at all? They'd be too far ahead of you! Double Dash and on, it's not going to miss the first-place racer unless they're getting boosted or somehow have a star. And by the way, you DID know that when a blue shell targets you, you can slow down to let other racers behind you catch up, right? Do this, and you can try to take them with you. You might not fall THAT far behind that way.

Also, Mario Kart 7 looks like it's going to make it too easy to avoid Blue Shells, just like in MKDS. Just like DS, 7 appears to show your opponents' items on the bottom screen. See Blue Shell > Move back to 2nd > Avoid Shell's explosion > 1st!

Oh yes! That is one very stupid thing in the coins battle! I had over 20 Coins online and then Boom! Blue Shell -.- Im still first and 15 seconds later BOOM blue shell... Last place -___-
To be fair, the blue shell in battle mode was very rare. I've only encountered it twice and never did I get it.

Also, GET RID OF THE THUNDER CLOUD!

Also, BRING BACK THE BOO!
I think the blue shell should be like a non-stop red shell, like it targets every individual player in front of you, and then hits them, until it reaches the first place player, then it explodes like normal. Also, can someone answer my drift turbo question?
