I will never for the life of me understand why, for all the advancements Nintendo and its associated parties make in their franchises, they always have to skimp out on things like this for no reason whatsoever. Feels like blatant fan trolling.

So Luigi-San posted an incorrect list? TO THE DUNGEON WITH HIM.
Guess I should know better than to take something like that at face value. Really, though, I can excuse the lack of Paratroopa (only appeared in Double Dash) and Toadette (only appeared in Double Dash and Wii), but Toad has been in every single Mario Kart and I have basically always used him, so my inner fanboy was outraged at the thought of Nintendo writing him out for absolutely no reason at all.

Two days!
Anyways, I just saw the final list of retro maps, here are my thoughts for each one in the game...
Luigi Raceway - Eh, no opinion either way. I just hope this won't be the track all the newbies pick online like they did with Luigi Circuit in MKWii.
Bowser Castle 1 - You think they could have picked a more interesting one. I can see myself hating this one though (I hated Bowser Castle 2 in MKDS and Bowser Castle 3 in MKWii, so it's only fair, right?)
Mushroom Gorge - I don't get why people don't like this one. I thought it was fun to bounce off the mushrooms...
Luigi's Mansion - ...and now we're swinging in the opposite direction. I don't get why people liked this one. That last section with the mud was extremely tedious and boring...
Koopa Troopa Beach - I'm pretty sure most people are happy about this one, and the ability to drive underwater will only make people happier here.
Mario Circuit 2 - I'll have to see how this plays out in the actual game before I judge. Both of the previous games had a Mario Circuit (Mario Circuit 1 was too easy, while Mario Circuit 3 was ridiculously fun). Hopefully it leans toward the latter of the two.
Coconut Mall - As if we all didn't play this enough online in MKWii...
Waluigi Pinball - Again, I'm pretty sure most people are happy about this one. The course was just so unique and fun, and I'm glad to see it back.
Kalimari Desert - Mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, I thought the train made this track fun (especially when you're trying to beat the train so you don't have to stop and wait), but on the other hand, waiting for the train isn't my cup of tea...
DK Pass - I don't know why, I just never liked this one for some odd reason. I really don't know why.
Daisy Cruiser - I loved this one too because again, it was so unique from the other tracks. This course is pretty much the reason the GCN tracks are my favorite.
Maple Treeway - Yeah, I liked this one because of the general fast pace. I don't really have any complaints or worries for this one.
Koopa Cape - I loved it when I heard the announcement... until I realized that they butchered the course in the video. The main gripe is that the underwater tunnel area is completely flooded, eliminating the current. They also eliminated the lasers too...
Dino Dino Jungle - Yes, yes, YES! I never thought I'd see this track in another Mario Kart until now, so I'm super happy to see this one.
Airship Fortress - I liked this track in the DS version because of all the hazards you had to dodge, so I'm glad to see this one make a comeback.
Rainbow Road (SNES) - I'm pretty happy about this one. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the hardest course in the game (it was pretty hard in the original Super Mario Kart, and the 3DS version seems pretty difficult as well)
Big Donut (Battle) - Aww... I never really liked this battle course. Too basic, I wish they would have used Double Deck instead.
GBA Battle Course 1 (Battle) - Normally, I'd say this is boring, but since they're adding Rocky Wrenches to this, it's going to be pretty awesome.
Palm Shore (Battle) - Unfortunately, there's nothing really special about this one, and I feel it's pretty boring.

The penalty for falling off the course is too harsh for a Mushroom Cup course plus how easy it is TO fall off to begin with.

Well to be fair, Mario Circuit 1 is the very first course in its game (and the series, to boot).

From what I've seen the Thwomps got altered. They're not invincible anymore, but they'll cause the track to ripple when they slam into it.

So, I'm assuming that now that MK7 is out, this thread will be used for all discussion of it.
I just got home from picking up my copy, and I'm lovin' it. (lol) Only finished Mushroom and Shell Cups so far on 50cc, but I got 3-star rank on both, so I'm happy. <3 I love the new additions to some of the old courses. Luigi's Mansion even has an extra path towards the end, just so you can use the glider! 
So, has anyone made an SMWC Community in the game? If not, I think one should be made. I'll start it if people want.

Got the game earlier today, unlocked almost everything, only things left are kart parts. I love DK Jungle and 3DS Rainbow Road more then I think any of the other tracks, so beautiful and to be just blunt, the tracks are put together well.
Also SNES Rainbow Road makes my head hurt, speeding along the track as it "goes behind you". The colors imo are just too bright and smushed together but that's just me.

Yep, I made a SMWCentral Community.
The code is 51-2647-2992-3895 and it has a Mario icon. I wanted it to be something everyone will enjoy, so I set it up to be a 150cc Grand Prix with all items on.
Enjoy!
Oh, and by the way, I've been playing online for a bit now, and has anyone else noticed that Maka Wuhu is already getting overpicked?

Apparently there is some big unintentional shortcut on Maka Wuhu that a lot of people have been abusing online. I guess that could be one reason for an unusual amount of interest in that track.

Just seen a video of it and it's very simple to pull off unlike other "ultra shortcuts" with require practice. This one could be easily found by accident :x

Oh man, I hate the difficulty on 150ccm. Everytime when I am nearly winning a race, then a combo of blue shells, lightnings and red shells are coming.
Got 3 stars on anything anyhow. It cost me about 70 hours play time.
O.o
BTW the glitch on Maka Wuhu rules^^

Just got this game today for Christmas, and I've already finished both 50cc and 100cc. I'm glad they took out items like the POW block and the Thunder Cloud, though, I'm a bit disappointed with the character roster.
Also, added the community group a few minutes ago. Hopefully we can get some more people to join, as we only have 6 or 7.

Not to be advertising or anything but that is pretty much #wi-fi's community code. I suggest anyone who wants to play to join the channel in Caffie to know exactly when we're playing.
