Tip: When you're about to release your hack, make a patch first, patch it to a clean ROM, and then test that. This way, you are testing both the hack AND the patch.

ShadowFire I saw you online a week or so back when I was playing Worldwide with one of my friends from here (bigbadbabysitter; you probably know him from mafia). Was using a different mii than usual for that race though. I was the guy with the Japanese Nikki Mii from New York that awkwardly had ~9000VR in a room where the average was closer to 1300.

Kept forgetting to mention that! Doubt you remember anymore but oh well :).
Oh yeah! i was playing around with the wi-fi and in the friends section there were people who i've played recently agaisn't. next to a mii(i guess it was yours then) it said join.

so uh.....

Did i suck that much?
I've been playing this game online a lot lately, and I thought it might be interesting to play with people I sort of know (or at least recognize), but whenever I check the community mentioned in the first post, no one else is online.

I know it's not inactive though since I've seen people's scores change, so... how/where are the "Clanofice" races organized? Is it on an IRC channel? (And are there any scheduled times that people race at, or is it only spontaneous?)
Yeah, if you want to know when a race is going on in the community then go to #wi-fi on irc.caffie.net. You can ask for a race and gather around players if they're interested. The channel is mostly dead but it's really active when a race is arranged.

I'd recommend you add friends to your list so can just join them when they're playing.

Heh, I played Mario Kart DS online a ton back when it was first released and this one's getting very addicting too. It makes some frustrating decisions (no single player VS mode, some strange/bad character choices, changes to Balloon Battle) but there's so much great stuff here. Favorite track is easily Neo Bowser City, in large part because of the music. I'm up to two stars and usually have Lakitu/B Dasher/Mushroom. At some point I might be free to play online with folks.

Also, the Maka Wuhu glitch is... interesting. I got frustrated when nearly everyone else used it in a race, but after figuring it out on Youtube, I can fight back. >:)
Goddamn. I can't figure out that damn glitch on Maka Wuhu. My actually FIRST race ever online was on Maka Wuhu, and everybody but me used the glitch. (I managed to get 5th of 8 people nonetheless.^^)

And yeah, I'm also looking for people to play online. We should do something like a weekly tournament or something like that.

Added TOS's SMWC group to the first post.
Was playing a lot of online races a few days ago. At least half of them ended up being on Maka Wuhu, so those were low placings since I didn't use the glitch (I placed 1st or 2nd in every other race). Also, later on, my 3DS's battery died in the middle of a race yet I didn't lose VR for disconnecting :P.

Excellent idea, I second this!
I remember a couple days ago somebody chose Maka Wuhu, so i went to where the glitching place was and started hitting everyone with a tanooki tail and i left some bananas on the cliff.

I only use the glitch in time trials or in Grand Prix.

I wouldn't recommend doing that in Time Trials unless you're just trying to combat the other glitch-users. Chances are that Nintendo will remove any times that use this glitch, though this is only an assumption. However, they did do this with the Grumble Volcano glitch in Mario Kart Wii.

I remember that and I think they're doing the same with this game. Not a single spotpass time I have beats the time I got using the glitch, so I'd say it's safe to assume it's happening here too. I don't think it's anything to worry about, your time just won't get sent through spotpass to other people.

They're definitely removing them. Just look at the graph of time trial times for Maka Wuhu. Times that would only be possible via the glitch don't even show up on the graph anymore. Back when this was fairly new, instead of the graph peaking once like it does now--as is the norm for every other track in the game as well--it peaked in two different spots because of the amount of people that did/didn't use the glitch.
I have a LOT of glitch-using time trials on mine. So far, I'm 1st place in Maka Wuhu too. :P
I was trying to see how easy it was. And i did it on my first try. Don't worry, i waited 5 minutes and than crossed the finish line.
I played through the whole game and holy bananas! #mlp{rd} Rainbow Road has the best music! It was so addictive.

Oh man, that RR remix was amazing. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this yet.

It's kind of disappointing how easy it is to get 3 stars now, though (compared to some of the others). I got it in every cup in 50cc the day I got the game.
I got 3 stars in 50cc, 100cc, some on 150cc and mirror on my first try. Other cups were troublesome though. Special cup mostly. But nowadays I just manage to get triple stars every time I play on any cup.
For me, it really depended on the cup. Mirror was pretty unforgiving at times, but the 50cc and 100cc were really easy.
Still, it's much better than it was in Mario Kart Wii.

I think I might've seen you at one point, not entirely sure, though. However, a Nikki Mii did appear in my Mii Plaza after an online session.

If it was recently, it was probably someone else. Haven't played MK7 online pretty much at all since my Winter break ended, and I only used the Nikki mii for one set of races with a friend.

But if you ever see a mii named "Devin" with ~12000VR from NY that's probably me!
