Well today I decided to make a new thread for a new hack...? Actually It's a new version of this thread awhile back Don't know if anyone remembers Old Thread The reason I decided to make a new thread for this because the old thread is VERY outdated screen shot wise and video wise; I wiped out a lot of my old video levels as well as updated a lot of my levels. Basically I just wanted to start fresh now that I'm more experienced with hacking in such.

(Can the old thread be trashed?)

Anyways this is supposed to be a pretty long hack; 8 World, 1 Special World and extra levels. It's also supposed to be story based but I haven't though to much about the story yet; since I'm just making the levels first. This hack will have custom; Graphics, Sprites, Music, Blocks; that I plan to make the best use of. Most of all I plan on mixing tilesets...ALOT. I actually am I good amount into this hack.

So that's a little more then half way done. I planned on making a demo awhile ago but I never came around it. So here are the World Themes.

World 1 - Hills/Caves 100% (Completed)
World 2 - City/Space 100% (Completed)
World 3 - Factory/Mountains 100% (Completed)
World 4 - Haunted/Amusement Park 100%(Completed)
World 5 - Prison/Ruins 100%(Completed)
World 6 - Lave/Ice/Water 100%(Completed)
World 7 - Plains/Forest/Sky 100%(Completed)
World 8 - Industrial 100%(Completed)
Extra Levels - Desert/Magical Road 100%(Completed)
Special World - Tower 100%(Completed)

As you can see I like Multi World themes a lot so yeah anyways enough talk how about some screen shots of some world 1 levels.

This is the first level of the hack. Get's you in the feel of the game (The screenshots don't really do the gameplay that much justice.

This level is called Lost Forest & Hills. To proceed you must build your paths (Hit Invisible Coin Blocks)Also please ignore..the green hearts...there not supposed to be that color.

You can probably tell what tileset this is mixed with. I also included the Water Fall animation. Trust me when I say working around palettes with mixed tilesets gets a bit complicated at times. Here's the second part of the level

Dino Rhino's join the fun XD

Also you probably guessed by now but this hack is supposed to be challenging; not over the top difficult or any thing; just requires effort. I have World 1 ready for beta/play testing so if anybody is interested in doing so...let me know (Only need like three) Well...that's what I have to show so far. Feedback & suggestions would be greatly appreciated #w{=)}

A weird question, but what's the difference between the words "done", "made" and "created"? I can't tell whether you've finished 20 of the stages, and have 43 left, or if you've finished 43 and have 20 left, or what.

OH GOD THE YELLOW SKY!

Can you turn it down a bit? It hurts my eyes right now. Other then that, it looks great!

Your levels look pretty cool. I'm not a fan of that pink grass though. ehh...not a big deal though.

Levels Done: Means that I have 43 levels fully complete and fully playable.

Levels Made: Means I have 20 levels made but not complete (Usually meaning I haven't finished the full level yet or I haven't added the sprites in)

Levels Created: Means I have 63 levels edited in Lunar Magic in all.

Yeah sorry about the yellow palette btw BlackMageMario; I'll change that. Thanks for the feedback so far guys; I shall show more progress soon.
I thought you said you were not going to start a new progect, but meh, pretty good hack you got here.

This isn't a new project. It's my very first hack; just upgraded. (Read the first post again)

Anyways I have more progress to show. Here are screenshots of the last level of World 1 before the castle. You go from Point A: The Three Hill Levels; to Point B: The Two cave levels; to Point C: This Level (Which is also considered a hills type level); to Point D: The Castle sitting on top of this hill. I explained this so it doesn't seem like I'm just throwing random levels together in such. Anyways here are screen shots in a video of the level; just in case some people who prefer one over the other.

World 1-6 "Midnight Valley"

As you can see I used the GreenHill Zone tileset; which I think I used only about twice in this hack. It's a pretty fun tile set to work with but kind of hard for me. Anyways I hope the level turned out alright. It's done for now but I do plan to modify some parts.

Anyways comments anyone? Feed back is always appreciated.
It looks good, Like the tile-set you got there, Might as well help you with ExGFX for this.

That would be great if you can. Also did you still want to do the overworld for this hack? (Being that I like how your overworlds look)
I like your palettes (although I think the pink grass could be toned down a tad), and the levels look pretty nice so far. I like how you're mixing graphics up, which is something most people don't do aside from FG and BG combos. Good job so far.

This sentence does not do justice on how complicated pallets can get.

Any ways, this looks fantastic. I can not wait to play it when it gets released!
Hoorah, games built upon solely level design that aren't vanilla! Great tilesets, palettes, and gameplay. Keep the good work.
I second that notion. Keep up da good work!:D
@K3fka: Thank you. I think mixing tilesets is pretty fun; and can defiantly add a lot more to the level I think.

@MuffinRobot: Thanks and Haha yeah that was a understatement I suppose.Sometimes palette work get's so complicated I almost end up skipping out on mixing sometimes. Also yeah it shouldn't be too long now; as I really don't have that many more levels to design (Estimated guess 23)

@Riot898 & ShadowFire: Haha thanks a lot. I plan on having this hack have custom stuff for the most part. XD

Well guys I really appreciate the positive feed back in such. Well multiple people have seem to have said something about the pink FG palette in second level so I'll change it up. Anyways that pretty much covers World 1; don't want to show all of World one now XD. So now we move on to World 2; the City/Space theme type of World. Well usually I show the first few levels of the World first but instead I'm showing the 5th level of the World First. Anyways here are some screenshots.

The Level is called "Weird Space"

So this is the outside section.

And this is the inside section.....black in white; they don't call this Weird Space for nothing. Yeah I was thinking of flatzone when I made this part.(BTW I can't seem to change the Mario Palettes to all black).

Please ignore the following:

1. The Status Bar Palettes: I planned on fixing that for awhile but it's a bit more complicated to try in fix. (Will still fix it)

2. The tiny little black spots on the BG: Yeah didn't notice that until now actually.

Anyways..World 2 steps up the difficulty by some but believe it or not; that level is actually not as difficult as it looks (If it even looked difficult in the first place) Anyways so for awhile World 2 was completely finish...but I decided to completely remake one of the levels in the World so it's only 1 Level away from being finished. I think I'll be showing a video of it later.

Anyways so feedback/comments anyone? Appreciated as usual =P
The outside of the level has a bad status bar pallete and I don't really like the foreground's pallete.

The inside section... Still has a Yoshi Coin that flashes. Not bad otherwise.
uh-oh There is cut offs.

Yeah, Not counting the yellow BG.
You can disable the original game's palette animation per level, so you can stop the dragon coin flashing like that.

Also, Mario's Palette is on Palette 8.

Other than that, it looks pretty cool. I like silhouette levels, even if this is only for the first half of the level.

@mariocool1999: -Sigh- ...I know about the status bar. (That's why it said please ignore the following) Not trying to be rude here or anything. Other then that thanks for the feedback; I'm actually trying to find a FG palette I feel more comfortable with right now.

@Diddyboy100: Thanks for pointing that out.

@JDC: Really? Thanks for telling me. Also I've sworn I've mad The palette all black before yet he still wasn't completely black; I'll try again though. Also the level actually goes from outside to inside; back to outside; back to inside again XD (Also thanks for the feedback)
1 question, How many levels are in each world?
