When the power goes out..

So the power is completely out around where I live and apparently its reached other places to. Man I'm going crazy right about; I'm so bored and everything is so silent. Just in case I wont be able to fall asleep I only have 2 things to keep.me through the night.

Just curious; what do you guys usually do in Black out/Power out situations or how do you get by. (Just curious to see how everybody handles these type things)

Yeah normally I wouldn't complain about this of it weren't for the fact that it.might be out till tomorrow.
When the power is out I usually play my portable consoles (DS, 3DS, PSP) until I get bored, or watch movies on my portable DVD player.

If I'm not in the mood to watch movies or play games (or the batteries has run out) I'd just read by the window if it's daytime, candlelight if nighttime.
I heard parts of San Diego got hit with that power outage today. That explains why Slash Man wasn't around.

I don't really do much when the power goes out. I typically just utilize the remaining time on my laptop's battery and then read a book or something. Then again, it is extremely rare for the power to go out for longer than 30 minutes around here, so yeah.

Yeah apparently it was supposed to just hit Arizona; but it hit here and Mexico. They said it will be out till friday; which is three hours from now where I live but i'm going to assume its going to come on much later. (I pity the person who caused it btw)

Well im a little more calm now; but the candles are predicted to not last through the night. I always feel uncomfortable during power outs. (Knowing everyones going to work also)
Yeah SNN, it happened during my lunch break at work which really sucked. Around 3:40pm PDT, 1.4 million people in San Diego lost power which put some parts of the city to a massive halt. It had spread from Arizona, to some parts of Orange County California, to Tijuana Mexico which is (from what I know), the most massive power outage we've had in southern California. Every school in the San Diego Unified school district is closed on 9-9-2011 which is good news for some kids. All in all though, I did notice some good things out of it. I saw kids playing in the street, people outside socializing, neighbors talking and getting to know eachother, it was pretty cool imo. I know I spoke with tons of new people on my way home from work on the bus, it was an interesting topic to bring up if you ask me.
We have had two significant power outages here in the last four years. One was in September of 2008, caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ike, which brought very, very strong winds over the city. We were out of power for three days. In January of 2009, a massive ice storm befell most of the Eastern U.S., breaking tree limbs and causing widespread power outages up and down a sizable portion of the nation. In Kentucky alone, 700,000 people were without power with temperatures in the 10s-20s. We were out of power for five days. On occasion, we lose power for an hour or two sometimes, usually because someone drove into a telephone pole or something.

I only remember experiencing three power outages that lasted for more than 2 hours (one lasted into the morning). Though, all of these happened at night, so I kind of just went to sleep a bit earlier than usual. I stayed up as long as my iPod battery stayed alive. Not really much else I could have done.

But no breakfast in the morning sux.
When the power goes out, I'm bored as hell because I don't have a portable console to play something :/. It's the worst when it happens in a cold day. You can't even go outside! -.-

EDIT: 666 posts xD

The power never goes out here for more then a couple up minutes, so I usually just power up my DS. If it was out for longer I'd probably steal an ethernet cable from the wireless router and plug it into my laptop to get internet and then use the rest of the battery on that.
oh god don't get me started on power outages

I HATE being in my house during a power outages, because we have a crapton of UPS' (Uninterruptable Power Source, if you don't know the acronym) so when the power goes out, all there is is a chorus of beeping. Plus when our alarm system is armed it goes crazy if the power goes out for more than ten seconds. (Which is quite rare, but it happens.)

Although we have tons of batteries and several flashlights scattered around the house, so occasionally I just fetch a book and get lost in it until I notice I don't need the flashlight to read anymore. (Most often because the power came on)

But sometimes I go and play on my gaming consoles until the batteries run out, and by batteries I mean the UPS they're all on.

And I'm just going to shut up before I launch into a full-out rant about what I tend to do in the event of a power outage.
Power outages are ridiculously common where i live, and they almost always last one hour or longer.

What do i do? nothing, just wait and all that crap.
There aren't many power cuts in the UK, but when this happens, I just play on a handheld console, or my Iphone. The power usually goes back up within an hour or so.

I'm sorry about that, anyway. Must have been quite boring there, I guess :(
Songwriting, iPod, or drawing some shit. It depends.

I switch from my big monitor to the small one and keep doing the same as I did before.
Rarely had it happen to me, but usually when it did happen, it happened late in the evening, so a logical consequence was going to bed early. Last time we had a power cut for a short time, though, but it was the day a good friend of mine came back from holidays, after we hadn't seen eachother for three weeks. So I went to him, and when I got back the power was already back on.

Yep.
I draw or play my guitar. Simple. :D
When the power goes out, I pray that I am not in my basement. Trying to navigate through the pitch black back to the stairs is not fun.
Thanks to the horrible electricity service we have in Mexcio City, our power generator gets damaged like every two/three weeks, so power breacks are not uncommon here. When it happens, I usualy make some levels in Lunar Magic, do my homework (if I have any) or spend some time with my brother.
That power outage yesterday was fun. We got a generator, hooked it up to the TV, and still got to watch the Saints game

When the power goes out, I usually put the radio on, play guitar, do some stuff on my laptop, hang out outside, or work on some homework (if it's during the school year)
When power goes out, I'll go outside and do anything. Mostly, eating, fresh air, etc..
