Hello. I am BuzzNBen. I am making a fangame currently called Super Mario Bros 2012 Doomsday and its based on the original Super Mario World and various Super Mario World hacks, but do you think that sounds better for a Super Mario World hack itself? Or a fangame with the SMW elements and even more in it (the fangame uses spc files, but hacks sometimes cut off some of the music)? Leave a reply in the comments. I hope to see what you guys think. ;)
Hmm... I think that's your decision. If you're making a fangame then it would be nice to complete it. If you don't feel SMB2012 will be a success, you can make a SMw hack out of it. Basically people mostly care only on the level design, not graphics or other additions.
Graphics and other stuff are bonuses and can make your hack look unique. The odd time some custom ExGFX can improve your level design, like adding ladders to city ExGFX and such. But I don't really grasp the concept of your hack idea. It is based off other hacks or something? Hmm.

I know what a mod is going to do with this thread (Since it's in hacking help).
A friend of mine (supernova on MFGG), is making this REALLY cool SMW engine with Game Maker and I might give that a shot when its done. I think the fangame could be unique as a SMW hack too, I don't know.
I'm one of those people that are new to Super Mario World hacking.
I changed my mind. Supernova just gave me a preview of the engine, I think this will just be a fangame like the rest of the SMB2010 series. :)

I started planning a hack and made a custom level, which I started to import into the fangame so. Its all good.
