| Tip: Keep your graphics within a specific style. Don't mix cartoony sprites with detailed and realistic back/foregrounds! |

Youtube invited me to make money off of ads on my videos.
The majority of them are SMW hack videos and other gameplay videos.
It states in Youtube's terms of service that I will need written permission from the owner (Nintendo, Microsoft, Bungie, etc.) for footage of video games.
I'm wondering if I can get that for nintendo, perhaps they have a generic statement of terms of use on their website? Or, for Microsoft/Bungie/other games makers, channels like Machinima and Rooster Teeth make tons of profit off of footage from them.
I'm wondering if anybody here who knows about making money from ads knows if I can easily seek permission or not.

A lot of people get these notifications. I got one too and so did my other account. Why would they want to partner with someone who only has 400 subscribers though. I might have accepted if I had like 20,000+ subscribers, but I'd be afraid of having my vids taken down.

This isn't exactly partnership though, its the youtube version of google adsense. A partnership requires a few thousand subscribers. Adsense just makes sure your videos are good and not copyrighted and are getting alot of views.
And now to what I think on this. I got this a few months back, it was awesome, the problem is they are really strict with stuff. The only problem with this, is if you even accidently click an ad once they might remove the adsense from your account. Which can get annoying. I mean, if it is Mario stuff then allow the adsense. Then all you have to do is type in that the game content is owned by nintendo (This happens when you choose the ads to put the videos on).
Sorry I suck at explaining by the way x|

So you're saying I probably could do it for the Mario levels? The artwork and characters belong to Nintendo so it seems like I'd have to get a license or contact them about permission.

Oh, I beg to differ, sir. I have tens of subscribers, not thousands of subscribers.

Actually, just explain that you are showing people how they can beat certain levels also. Then explain that the game is owned by Nintendo.

I heard about this from a friend that likes to make Call of Duty videos. He said it was true, but he mentioned you had to get a lot of software like Sony Vegas and Adobe After Effects. He mentioned another one, but he said it was like $1,000 so I didn't know if it would be worth it.
I don't play Call of Duty though. I usually play Madden 10 or Madden 11, and I have some videos on Youtube of SMW levels that I made as well as a few for SMW2. I've just made about 2 worlds of my SMW2 game, but I also have a few videos on that I've made w/some people so I was wondering about it. I only have like 20 videos so far though and only a few subscribers.

You can make money from videos if you record a dog of your ownership cuddling with a cat, or you singing a song you wrote.
If your video is not eligible for monetization such as a video with video clips or song clips that are not in your ownership, your video may be removed by Youtube.
I don't have very many subscribers on my Youtube account and I don't have very many views on my videos, but there is a blue circle with an "I" in the middle telling me setting up for monetization takes four easy steps.
