Hey can anyone help me understand how to write a program in visual basic? I have an assesment on it in school and I don't understand anything about the program at all
We could use more details, like, what don't you understand about VB? Do you keep getting an error? What program/IDE are you using to make VB programs?

I'm no Visual Basic guy, but without a description of your problem, we can't help you.
I don't really know how to explain it but the type of Visual Basic I use is Visual Basic 10.0 and I generally don't know how to write codes you know make the program do certain things for example one of my tasks is to create a program that verifies an Email I don't know how to write a code for something like that.

Whilst I do know VB, I would recommend reading some tutorials on the internet, especially this one, which I used to get started.
You can find 200 tutorials on VB here.
If you don't understand anything, ask your teacher. I mean, (s)he is teaching for a reason.

I recommend reading this tutorial, BTW. It's very easy to comprehend unlike a large number of programming tutorials I've seen on the Internet. Read it thoroughly and get yourself familiar with basic things before moving onto some of the more advanced tutorials.
