The title refers to my broken streak of having only made Kaizo hacks so far. Mario is taking a break from Kaizo land, but my YouTube subscribers want him back. My other hack (Mario and the Horcrux Hunt) was canceled due to lack of attitude, interest, and eventually deciding the whole premise was too generic. This one starts out easier and this time I'm going for a difficulty that is more 'normal' and more tolerable, similar to SMW or the first Donkey Kong Country. I also intend to see this one thru to the end.

This will probably be one of the later levels in world one.

I stole the name of this level from Keen 4 (Chasm of Chills). It's a simple puzzle with the typical underground enemies. Will probably end up in world 2.

Just to be a little more non-traditional, the switch palace colors are a little different. Pink, neon green, violet, and orange. Their only purpose is to help access the special world equivalent. The Switch Palaces will be actual levels and they probably will feature puzzles inspired by worldpeace's Eggplant hack.

If this level name isn't acceptable, I can change it. Do not fret, the OW will be changed.

This level will probably be much later in the game.
One thing you'll notice about this hack is that I will find ways to take mundane objects and make the level all about them, and make it interesting. In fact, I'm planning a level that's all about turn blocks and turn block bridges. Also, it is possible to die in the intro, but since I give you a 1-up at the starting tile, your lives counter will never glitch. Custom music will be used, and this time, hopefully, the music will be made by me rather than consist of downloaded tracks (except for the intro level, that's the only downloaded custom music I will use).

5th screen: I noticed the green around that berry is a bit lighter than the bush palette. It would look better if the palettes will be identical. ;)
Also, the switch palace idea is nice. Always there are only yellow, green, blue and red switches. It's a good idea to give them different colours.

Did not notice the bush palette, but it's fixed now.
I think instead of actual boss fights, I'll have at the end of each castle a segment where you must defeat all the enemies in the room to beat the level. I feel the original SMW bosses (5/7 of the Koopalings, at least) are overused. As for hack length, I'm thinking about 7 worlds plus an optional 8th world consisting of brutal bonus levels. Each castle will have a secret exit that will unlock part of the path to the secret world, in addition to the 4 switch palaces beaten. I'm thinking about maybe a 3.5 or 4 world demo, depending on how long I take or how badly I want to release something.
Now for a minor piece of news: I plan on either not using the cape at all or making it a super rare power-up. I don't know what Nintendo was thinking when they made such an uber game breaker power-up available from the start of world 2 onward, making it common and obsoleting the fire flower. Like my other canceled hack, this one will not allow you to spin jump off of spiky enemies. I have already started using some recycled level ideas that I was gonna use for my other hack.

Nice level. Yes, it could fit a W4 or maybe W5 level. It's has medium difficulty. Also, I like the use of the turn block bridges.
For the level name, I don't think it would be a removal reason (maybe I'm wrong but... ). Some hacks have also random names like this.

It's really nice, as seen above. Also, the mole level's name is funny.

That mole level I showed in world 1 is called Holy Mole-y, and Mole-y Crap will be a sequel to that level, with the same gimmick, but much more difficult. I have not officially set in stone what worlds will be which theme, but I think I have an idea.
world 1- no theme
world 2- either a beach or something like Krem Quay from DKC2.
world 3- forest
world 4- mountain
world 5 and world 6- ice or something else (not sure which is which)
world 7- something like world 8 from SMB3

For the love of everybody's sanity, don't make two ice worlds.
I really like the hack though.

I'm not making two ice worlds. I just can't decide if I want world 5 or 6 to be an ice world.

Yay, I can finally post now w/o the annoying 'you must wait 24 hours to double post' message.
Rather than giving a save prompt after every level, every so often there will be an easy save house level that, when beaten, will give a save prompt. The castles will also give you a save prompt when beaten. I just don't want OW savestates to be necessary.

Both screens were made using only vanilla graphics.
Also, do you think I should change the name back to 'Combo Breaker' since it's much easier to say and spell than C-C-C-Combo Breaker?

A few more screenshots:

A preview of the OW. The level tiles are already revealed for convenience purposes (have not placed events yet).

A waterfall stage with a night time, starry background, taking place on a cliff face. Since I'm not using custom graphics, I thought the cave lava recolored and acting like water would look better than cutoff water.

I think Combo Breaker looks better. Also, I like the overworld and the save houses.

Some screenshots from the first castle.

If you guessed that the name of this level is IHOPP, then you guessed correctly. Most of the level names in this hack are DKC series style, but not all of them. This is one of the ones that isn't. Trying to position the message text was a nightmare.

Over or under, it really doesn't matter.

Some sort of dungeon.

Getting this Dragon Coin isn't quite as difficult as it looks (Trying to spin jump on the Thwomp is useless because of the hex edit).

Some screenshots all with a water theme:

A beach themed level with Super Koopas (not shown).

Not much to say here.

This level is inspired by Glimmer's Galleon from Donkey Kong Country 2.
Also, would it be considered Kaizo if I lined the bottoms of the gaps with invisible coin blocks to keep the player from swimming under the level, or are you thinking that the player deserves what they get if they try to cheat?

The second level.

It's appropriately named 'Bullet Bill Hill'. I hope it's not too hard for a second level.

Auto-scrolling underwater level that's probably better than it sounds. It's the second level of world two.

It may not look like much, but this section forces you to get a mushroom at the start and there are no enemies yet, so you have to let the auto-scroll push Mario through those one tile gaps (in case you're wondering, slow auto-scroll is used). This level is called 'Current Events.'

Wow, nobody posts here for a while. Also, the palettes and levels are nice. I think the 2nd screenshot is not too hard for a 2nd level (Talking about the sky level).

Why don't hack mods ever realize this?! Yes, there is a reset door, but that's mainly for the P-Switch. That message would mainly apply to springboards and keys since they can't be destroyed, and they WILL respawn after being dropped down a gap. I would see the need for a reset door if, say, the springboard was dropped onto a surface that you would not be able to grab it again (without taking damage) and it would not go out of bounds of the level, such as in the middle of a spike pit or underground lava.

The beginning of the second castle. The auto-scroll might not be needed.

Wooden pillars of doom AND bowling balls of doom!

Same as above, plus a Ninji! Wondering if I should make this room a little easier.

The last 'real' level before the world 2 castle (there's a save house after this). The water behaves like Super Mario Bros. water.

This part isn't as difficult as it looks.

A forest level with bats, requiring you to jump on top of tree limbs to cross gaps, like in Rise to the Challenge, except this is way easier. One of the levels in Hertz Donut uses almost this exact palette.

Don't be fooled, this actually isn't Kaizo despite the tons and tons of Munchers. I finally figured out how to make sideways Munchers.

This level is called Muncher Mayhem (at least for now). It is somewhere in world 3.

Part of the same level. Goes from a forest to a cave that has a Swooper Death bat ceiling.
As for a demo, I've decided it will include worlds 1 and 2 and part of world 3.
On another note:
What's with the lack of feedback lately? If this was a video, posting comments just on the video page would be fine enough, but sometimes I feel as if uploading an smc (ROM) file would still go completely ignored (still, I would not do that). Do my levels really look good enough to not deserve any feedback? Or is my hack 'too generic'? I do not want hack mods to be the major source of feedback.
