Borrowing from the tanoomba, one of the transformations could be a thwomp. I thought that perhaps for one transformation she becomes a goomba and spawns other goombas, with her looking slightly different. Currently can't think of the third one. We shouldn't make it too complicated, it's the second boss some people will encounter after all.
Final boss size is 24x40. I have the GFX routine completed; I'm dedicating a good chunk of this afternoon just to coding this, since I don't have work today. Hoping to make a good deal of progress with this.
Got anything you can show us by chance?

I know you've been busy with 103 also, but do you have any updates on this?

We still need someone for coding and gfx.
I'm really sorry about this guys. I explained my reasoning to Lightvayne, and a lot of people who frequent #serioushax or #linux know of my situation presently. It's been a very difficult time for me, and I don't want to waste people's time by holding the slot and not making any progress.

Just kinda highlighting this again so people are aware we still need gfx and a coder for this boss.
Are there any plans for attacks, if yes can anyone list them ?
So i could probably code this boss if the attacks are in my abilities. ;D
If you want it, go for it. The only thing we really decided on was that everyone wants the tanuki. The rest is up to you. I'll add you on if you want it...

Oh don't worry about that. Someone will surely make the frames for you.

I remember sunwarrior making ones, but I recall them being to "stocky" and didn't look like the one in Teyla's drawing.

My ideas:

- it could throw with leaves
- it could transform into a statue like Mario with his tanuki suit in smb3
- it could fly short ways

I will begin coding soon. I think the size will be 32x32 or 16x32, but I will tell ya guys when i finished the gfx code ;D

How about more transformations? The whole "transform into a common enemy" has been suggested ever since the Tanuki was settled.

Growing more on that, maybe the Tanuki transforms into a normal enemy (hammer bro, chuck, or something), and when you defeat her, a puff of smoke happens and she turns back into herself.

Maybe she can only be hurt when she isn't transformed?

Also, I'm loving that SMB3 idea. I've always wanted to see the spin-jump utilized in a boss battle like how ground pounds are utilized in boss battles in newer Mario games. Maybe Mario has to spin jump on the Tanuki in statue mode to "break" the statue, leaving the Tanuki vulnerable to Mario's attacks.
These are great ideas, i think i will begin to code this tomorrow.

For the one who will make the gfx:

Edit:
I need 2 idleing frames, 16x32 ;D
I need 2 different statue frames: (16x32 too)
- a normal one
- one with scars (is that the right word ?)
I need 2 flying frames, with a wagging tail like Mario's in SMB3. (these can be 32x32 or 16x32)

And than finally I need where she lies on the ground (32x16)

Okay, i began making the sürite and i finished some attacks.
I will show it soon ^^

So, first things i can show.

It has 4 attacks now:
-> throwing leaves
-> warping into the sky, flying a bit and falling down as a statue
-> transforming into a koopa
-> flying diagonally through the area (with a wagging tail [after hurted] )

Way to hurt:
-> Jumping on the koopa
-> carry his shell
-> throw it onto the tanuki to stun it
-> spinjump on it

For the GFX Maker:
-> 2 frames idleing (16x32)
-> 2 frames throwing (16x32)
-> 2 frames staggerin ( is that the right word? ) (32x32)(after shell contact)
-> 2 frames with a wagging tail (32x32)
-> 1 frame lieing on the floor (like killed)

Oh, i nearly forgot the video link.

I want to know what ya guys think about it ^^

-> leaves are 8x8 now and they were thrown at once

Ok, I was talking with Sind, Leod, and Lui37 on IRC a second ago, and we agreed on a few suggestions for you.

First of all, it might be good for the boss to have a few more attacks, and a few more transformations for that matter.

Secondly, it seems that the boss stands there for too long between attacks. Maybe it could walk around or something?

Thirdly, it would be kind of cool if when the boss did the statue attack, it would sometimes turn into different statues or even a Thwomp like the tanoombas in PiT. (I have no clue if there's graphical space for that, though)

Just one more little nitpick, why do you have to spinjump on the boss after stunning it instead of normal jumping? It seems like normal jumping should work too.

Other then that though, the progress you've made on it is good and you seem to work very quickly. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of this boss.
