Yeah, Friday nights have become a terribly busy night for me, as I said earlier. I think other people may be in the same boat.
...It's really difficult to find a time when the main group of people who do it are all on at once.

You know, given this never works out, does it really have to be weekly?
I mean, anyone interested could just post the times that would suit them and assuming the times would overlap, more than one person could easily get on on a less limited basis.

It's not that it "never" works out - it's that it hasn't worked out since Christmas for some unknown reason. It doesn't have to be weekly either, but having it as a regular event was supposed to be the plan from the get-go.
People can post the times that work for them I guess, assuming there is enough care/interest. The problem is that things tend to come up at the last minute for certain individuals, so there isn't much we can do to control that.

How does Saturday, 9 PM EST sound?

I doubt Saturday is a more open day. In fact, I think its more busy especially for teens. Perhaps Sunday?

Well, I'm on GMT+1 time for the next two months, so something like 4 PM EST would be good for me. After that, the same times that we were doing before are fine. And Saturday night would probably be the best day for me.

I realize it's been since February this has happened, but since it's a stickied thread, I'm fairly sure I can still bump...
Can we revive this? It was so fun.

If I can make a suggestion, having all these users get together at the same time seems like a pain for everyone, and hasn't even worked out for, off the top of my head, almost a year (fun as it was), so why don't we take a theme up each week and post our results every Sunday (or whenever you guys think)? It'd be fun to see each other's results, and I'm sure it would help the musicians here grow closer and maybe even get some more feedback.
Anyone with me?

Sounds pretty cool. Hell, i might even end up joining once or twice if i manage to make something worth other people's time.
I could always come up with the themes, if you need someone to do it.

If you want to, why don't you throw a theme up for this week? I'll try and compose to it, and if anyone else wants to join in (the hope is that they will), then great.

Since we're not all meeting at the same time, should we perhaps drop the one hour limitation and just let people show whatever they want that fits the theme, whether it's an early WIP or something more complete?
Either way, sounds like a good idea to me.

That's kind of what I was thinking too, so sure.

Here's my entry! I composed it all yesterday and spent a good five hours fooling around with it, so I hope the result is pleasing.
I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone else came up with!

Great work Zero! Well I'll keep this one up until around 9:00 here, then I'll post the next theme.

Aww, only one submission? D:
Well, I didn't actually finish anything, but I think this is turning out pretty well:
Sorrowful Silverbell Shrine (WIP)
It's inspired by songs like Midna's Desperate Hour (Twilight Princess) and Cemetery (Cave Story). Enjoy~

@Zero-X: That's really nice! Calming but uneasy at the same time, like I'm in the midst of quietly exploring fascinating ruins but danger could be afoot, so I have my guard up. You should give it a proper name :b (unless it's "Forest Shrine," which is fine)

Oh yeah, that's one nice track you have there. I can definitely see the influence of Midina's Desperate Hour, and I love the fast notes in the piano too. I think the piano playing the arpeggios could sound better if you softened/quieted it a bit, but overall that's really good. I can't wait to hear the finished product.
Also, yeah, I hope someone who's not a member of the Zero-XniJ comes in next time. In my opinion, it would seem a bit self-proclaiming to use this thread to display our own work every week with no other entries, if you know what I mean, but maybe others wouldn't think so.
E: I was going to make a "compilation" video on youtube for each one of these like SNN did. Would you object to it if I uploaded your track?

Yeah, that's fine, though I guess it wouldn't be much of a compilation if it's just the two of us :b
Maybe it's just that people tend to gloss over this subforum in general. We might have to directly invite people to get their attention...or maybe they're just not interested XD
Well, let's see what happens next week, anyway.

Whoa this is active again? Funnily enough, I just got an idea last night to do something based on the hour music writing activity, but instead turn it into a 24-hour one. I ran the idea by SNN and he seems pretty on-board with it. I've started coming up with a list of possible themes (much more specific this time, as opposed to the generic forest/ice/grassland/whatever). We're thinking about starting it tomorrow on IRC but I'm not sure yet. Would anyone else be interested?
