No fucking shit, sherlock. It's a law that is considered being passed. And law is serious business. Even though, as Camerin said, we don't have to worry too much about this, as Congressmen will eventually realize how stupid this was.

THIS. I've spread the words in real life, and all I've asked like 20 people DID NOT know about it. Also one guy that DID know said they did this America before.
I don't remember that happening in US. If it did, they're doing stupid again.
What's up with these congressmen. None of these sites are apposing any sort of threat.
Let me just say that this is all your fault.

It's difficult to tell sarcasm on the internet, but if that wasn't sarcasm then its because this is a rom hacking site. And it was started to prevent piracy. You figure the rest out.

There's a reason we don't host roms here. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen any copyrighted content hosted here without the original owner's permission that the site has authorised.

While it's true that you don't host ROM's here, there a wide amount of other copyrighted content (like graphics and music ripped from other games) that could have the site treading on eggshells when it comes to the legal department.

IIRC, someone said before that All.log could be assembled into an SMW ROM.
You're kidding right?
Roms are a form of piracy. We use roms. Even if we don't host them here, you still use them.

I do think that the law won't really stand in the way of Nintendo, you see what lengths game publishers go through with DRM that cripples your computer.

Signers for the petition is going pretty slow now =P Well now I do not think that Congress even has the slightest chance of getting in foothold in this fight. I mean I knew most likely it would not pass, but I was still worried, but now... I can rest =)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't ROMs legal as long as you own the original game in cartridge form? (I do happen to own the original game, even if my SNES has long been busted :()

Granted they do deserve the money they worked hard on, but the internet without a lot of great websites will dwindle and become a stale Blegh. What is it with the U.S. government and their love of bills lately...

Having a ROM is legal. Participating in the distribution of game copies (including ROMs) is not. "Participating" in this case includes both giving out and receiving copies.

So it's legal if you copy your own game with a ROM dumper.

But no one really cares.
Congress really, are you out of your fucking mind?! So THAT'S how you combat piracy?

"It could mean legitimate sites are also blocked, it said."

Yeah, real smart guys! Gimmie a break, at least find something on the internet, on someone's IP address, or something to detect piracy or activities like this?

I don't even know what to say or if I'm making any sense, but this is outrageous!

What does internet censorship have to do with the Job crisis? People are actually getting jobs from the internet, so wouldn't censoring the internet make the job crisis worse?
