I agree. If SOPA/PIPA will get back in the next month, we must get prepared to prevent their bills to pass.

You're right. That's EXACTLY what I thought.
The vote on PIPA is shelved, and SOPA was taken down by none other than Lamar Smith himself. They're not coming back for a while.

though constant vigilance isn't a bad thing to do

First off, yeahs for not being here for a while!

Second, this is only the beginning. The media giants of old aren't going to stop coming out with stuff like SOPA and PIPA until lobbying is banned and enforced. Until then, we must have constant vigilance. We are not going to be censored.

From what I was hearing, there are going to be a lot of voters voting no to the bills. I'm quite unsure if this is true, but that's what I think.
I wouldn't be surprised if only megacorporations voted yes.

And I have three words to say about that: George W. Bush
Say goodbye to SOPA/PIPA and say hello to ACTA. Take action now.

Now there's always going to be some kind of Internet-related bill out there being proposed that might screw everyone, isn't there?

God I'm so sick of all this shit. Just when SOPA and PIPA go down, this comes up...

sigh
From what I read, ACTA is not a bill, but a treaty, and several countries have signed it, including the US (surprise surprise) on October 1st last year. The government has been keeping this a secret until just now (I read that ACTA has been around way longer than SOPA and PIPA, but it's only just now getting proper attention). How convenient for those trolls. It's like they planned on SOPA and PIPA to fail, so they sent forth those to distract us while they easily sneak ACTA through. I am ashamed to say that I am from the US.
Meanwhile, Poland is supposed to sign it on the 26th of this month, and they're proposing a blackout similar to the SOPA protests here in the US.
And this is why we can't have nice things, people coming up censoring stuff.

Well, at least the congress and the senate here in mexico opposes it :)

Tell your government in the country you live in other than the United States (Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Australia, etc.) that SOPA and PIPA should be wiped off the face of this planet. All the foreign internet users would be affected with this bill because they might lose virtual friends from the United States.
I'd like to stab all these bills in the eye with a really hot french fry.

I urge the OP of this thread to put something regarding ACTA in this thread's title and description. I was gonna start a new thread completely about ACTA, but I decided not to, since this thread is just as appropriate when it come to covering it.

It seems to me that citizens of the inretweb think all of the danger is over after SOPA/PIPA were shelved.
Well, since ACTA is more than just the internet (it's also said to affect medicine) it can go in its own thread, I suppose.
Assuming we can trust the website, then shit.

I'm guessing this is the Republic of Ireland? I'm still waiting on the UK's stance on ACTA. I can't find a reliable source anywhere stating their stance on this.
SOPA and PIPA made me angry.

But ACTA...ACTA scares the living crap out of me. ACTA makes SOPA and PIPA look like a common flu compared to it. I am EXTREMELY uneasy about my ISP being able to just spy on my PC activities.
