I am currently in the progress of a few. I am in the 5th book of the Vladimir Todd series and in the 2nd book of the kane chronicles. I am also reading a pendragon book and a book called awaken.

I finished the harry potter series a while back and I have been re reading the hobbit when I have the time, but I have not picked it up in a few days, to busy/sick.

1984 by George Orwell. Numerous comments that reference this book posted on articles and YT videos about controversial government bills inspired me to check it out from the library. I'm at the part just after Winston has been taken into custody and tortured into submission, being forced to believe that two plus two equals five, not four. |

I'm reading White Tiger right now. It is for school, we had a choice between it and a bunch of more generic school books. I'm really liking it so far. It's about a poor indian man who becomes a successful entrepreneur by killing a man (that's not a spoiler, it's established early on). It's really sarcastic and filled with black humour, but it's essentially about corruption in india. Despite making it clear that he's a murderer from the beginning, the protagonist is still really likable, and it's a good read.

Currently, reading Halo: The Fall of Reach. This book is ten times better than the game, mainly because it's in TEXT, and it's actually a riveting tale that allows you to see how and WHY Master Chief became such a badass. Basically, constructing and developing a character by deconstructing and tearing down a normal human and building them into a robot, with emotions that are still hidden somewhere in his changed and warped soul no thanks to childhood being taken over by the Military.
Though I haven't had the urge to pick it up and read it lately...

Currently reading Battle Royale by Koushun Takami, because I saw the movie pretty recently. It's pretty good so far, writing is a little bare-bones but there's a lot more characterization than the movie, so all the deaths are a little more meaningful.

A book concerning Windows NT 4 internals. It's quite a nice read of ancient computer history. Also a C# guide.

Whew, not quite a month yet since the last post, so I should be fine.
Currently reading Warriors: Omen of the Stars: The Last Hope. If you don't know what the cover looks like, look at my current avatar. It's the last book in the main series and will feature a Great War. I'm not very far yet, but I can already tell it's going to be awesome, probably way better than the previous book, The Forgotten Warrior which to me was kinda meh.
I'd also started reading The Great Gatsby but I think I'll finish Warriors first. I usually read those books lightning fast, and it's more interesting than Gatsby so far.

I read The Last Hope when it first came out. I thought it was great, especially the ending, I thought the ending worked really well. It's kind of sad to see the series end though, it started in 2002, and while I only started reading it in 2008, it's sad. At least they will make more books that take place in the Ancient Clans time period.
Recently, I read the first part of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. I thought it was pretty great. I haven't started The Two Towers yet, and I haven't seen any of the films (yet). I might pick up The Hobbit soon, because the first part of the film is coming out this December.
While this part fits better in the Anime/Manga forum, I don't really feel like separating it into a separate post.
I might start reading more manga soon. I've only read the first 3 volumes of Toradora, and I think I should read Neon Genesis Evangelion and Death Note. From what I've heard, the anime adaption of Death Note seems to be pretty much identical with the manga, except they apparently skipped a bunch of the story near the time-skip in the anime. Apparently the manga of Neon Genesis Evangelion is pretty different from the anime though, so it will be fun to see all the differences between the manga and anime.

Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel (one of the suggested books in this one topic I made). For some reason it kinda reminds me of Secret of NIMH and Fern Gully. The echo chamber and the whole concept of bats closing their eyes and seeing pictures made by other bats singing is pretty trippy. This book was also how I learned about the TvTrope Aerith and Bob. There are characters named Chinook, Shade, Penumbra, Goth, and then there are characters named Jarod and Ariel. Clashing naming styles.

Well I'm not really reading it anymore because it's a short story but I've been really obsessing over it lately ever since I finished it.
Ray Bradbury's The Veldt (Also known as The World That The Children Made)
My favorite musician, Deadmau5, recently released song under the same title and suggested that people read the story it was inspired by. So I did and it's so dang good. You can read it online here: Link.
A quick sum up: A family lives in a house that takes care of them in almost every way. In this house there is a particular room that the children enjoy most. The nursery. The nursery has the power to simulate any enviroment thought of, in this case it is a veldt with lions, vultures, and so on. The children have been acting spoiled and mysterious ever since they had turned the nursery into a veldt and the parents try to find out why but things just seem to get worse.
The ending to the story delivers well but I'll leave you to find out what it is.

I wouldn't. I heard that the movie of the Hunger Games was only average, but the book is abslutly fantastic. It's unlikely that the Catching Fire movie will be much better (although they could pull a Harry Potter).

I wouldn't. I heard that the movie of the Hunger Games was only average, but the book is abslutly fantastic. It's unlikely that the Catching Fire movie will be much better (although they could pull a Harry Potter).
