You, sir, are a FUCKING GENIUS!
These were made by anonimato, plus they were suggested a long time ago.
EDIT: I like Lightvayne's ones, but I'm affraid they might be too big.

I think the facepalm one could be better, but meh, I'll see what you decide.

I like these a lot. They turned out much better than a similar concept I had put together a few years back when we got Gooey. You've pulled it off much better, though.

I'd like ones which fit on one line. But that's just my personal preference. XD (The current ones need to be resized but eh, only my opinion. Either that or the default font needs to go up. Which may break more than it helps...)
They look good though, Lightvayne. I like them. =)

They look too pixelated to me... I couldn't tell what some of them were until you posted the code.

Its the default palette for Mario and standard size. If I shrink it down, its will make the images harder to see. If I enlarge it, everyone complains about the size. I could run it through Photoshop and make everything more defined and less pixelated, but it would lose that original SMW feel.
I would very much like to keep it all the original colors of the sprite itself, but if I have to add in additional colors to make things a bit "easier to see", they I guess I will have to do that

I still think it could be about half the size. We'd be able to tell what it is, it'll be less pixelly, and it won't mess up text spacing. As it stands they're bigger than the gooeys from what I can tell.

Transparency enabled

Smaller version (doesn't look all that great imo.)

I think I may be the only one who doesn't really like those emoticons (that's not to say I don't appreciate the effort you've put into making them). They look sort of pixelated, I can't really tell what some of them are and I also can't differentiate between some of them (first one in the first row, last one in the first row and the last one in the last row look pretty similar IMO). Also, I've always hated the colors the SMW Mario used but I guess that's irrelevant.

Well, SMW is a 16 bit game, so yeah, its gonna be a bit pixelated. I tried editing a bit off the colors on this last version, changed a few facial expressions to make them a bit more defined (sorry andy, I think I stole one of yours in the process) and added a few more. Hopefully that help of the issues.

If everyone still thinks its a too pixelated, they I may have to start baseing these off a differnet game (which in my opinion makes no sense seeing how this is a SMW hacking website)

Yeah, that shrunk version hurts my eyes. My eyes keep thinking they need to refocus, which isn't going to do anything on a picture that's blurry as it is.
Fortunately, there's a very simple cure for shrinking this one: Just remove every second pixel.

Crystal clear image at a much smaller size than before. Problem solved.

Hooray it's complete impossible to see if you don't glue your face to your screen now.
I liked them more in big. Or at least not this small.

Isn't that just regular nearest-neighbor resizing or something?

Yes, it is (except even more simplified due to integer factors).
If it's zoomed 2x, some users complain about the inflated line height.
If it's 1.5x, some users will complain about blur.
If it's 1x, some users won't see what's going on.
My favourite solution would be not having any smilies at all, but I'm pretty sure nobody will agree with me on that one.

I think the inherent problem here is that Mario's SMW sprite is not conducive at all to expressing emotions. It's not your fault, Lightvayne; I think you're just fighting an uphill battle here. In my opinion, if we want a set of Mario smilies, someone would have to draw them from scratch.

Why don't we just use those turn block smileys then?

I'm fine with the Mario smileys being too big. I mean, they aren't any bigger than the MLP series if I'm not mistaken.

I have to agree here, it can be somewhat hard to see the emotions in your smilies, Lightvayne. I like anonimato's turn block smilies though, the idea is very creative and they fit well with the site.

I PMed this to myself about 2 years ago for some reason:
I quite like those SMRPG ones.

I wonder if that crying bowser is the one I made back in 2007 for the starmen.net forums.
