Reversing controls in Game Maker

Hey, I'm in the middle of a project for college using Game Maker Lite 8.1.

It's a platforming game and I was wondering if anyone kknew how to make it so that if the player was hit by a certain projectile, their controls would be reversed for a time?

Credit will be given unless otherwise requested.

It would be something like...
Code
if key pressed = *whatever* { go -x spaces }

I'm not sure, something like that.
Make another object that has reversed controls? I don't know, I haven't done anything like that before.
It's actually quite simple. You add any moving block you wish under a Key Press event and make the left button move right with a positive x number, and the right button move left with a negative x number. Now for up and down, Game Maker reads the y-axis invertedly, so when you go up, you're actually going to the negative y values. So when you press up, you will move down with a positive y number, and the down button will make you move up with a negative y number.
Hope that helped.
