This is a savestateless Kaizo hack. Well, platform hell, at least. The hack's name was gotten from a Japanese game show where contestants run a super tough obstacle course that is a real life example of platform hell. The levels are short, but intense, with strict time limits and no checkpoints. I really don't care too much about breaks in this one (the levels will be meant for speed runs, mainly), but if it's an easy break that would skip much of the level, then it's time to redesign. On the subject of breaks, the only patch I'll be using is the P-Balloon/cloud fix. There probably will be a balloon level somewhere.
This hack will consist of 4 worlds. 3 of the worlds will have 3 levels each and world 4 will be one level only. Worlds 1 and 2 will be timed, world 3 will probably focus more on puzzles and have no time limit. The final stage will be a vertical climbing level (just like in the real Ninja Warrior) and it will be timed.
Screenshots (all from the first level):

Those grey blocks hurt you.

It is somehow easy to screw up a jump here.

15 SECONDS?! That's waaay too much time to have at the end.
NOTE: Anything in the description is subject to change as I work on this.
Even though this is Kaizo, I'm gonna try to go for a design style where if you've memorized all the different strategies and timing, you may be able to clear the levels with some ease, and I'll try not to have anything completely luck based. Basically something like what Mario Frustration looks to be, maybe.

That's not completely out of the question I guess.
Know what? Maybe having some sort of fast paced custom music would be more fitting than vanilla music, and it would be more involved this way. Man, this happens every time I consider not adding custom music (except for FML). I easily get lured into using custom music, and I do like custom music. But right now I just wanna focus on the level design right now, and then maybe later add custom music.

If this hack does not have custom music I'm not playing.

I think this thread was off to a bad start, and it was partly my fault. I think it can be rebooted when I have more progress to show. No, this hack is not canceled.

Actually, that's probably my fault, since I brought up the whole use custom music thing.
The whole 'not using custom music thing' is not set in stone. In fact, I do think custom music would fit a difficult obstacle course type game. IMO, the original music does not do a good enough job of getting you pumped.

Yeah. The only time I can withstand original music is when it's "Piano" in a pit hack.
A couple more screens:

Yes, I've done this part savestateless. So can you! Those are directional coins BTW. This will probably be one of the world 3 puzzle levels, hence the infinite time.

A dumbed down version of the forest level from Hertz Donut.
I will not release any videos of this hack. When this hack is released, I'll let anyone who wants to volunteer to be my guinea pig play through it savestateless and record themselves playing, and the videos show death montages, like the original Kaizo videos. How does that sound?

Looks nice.
Looks pretty good. Also the idea sounds nice but I'm impatient of playing Kaizo Hacks savestateless, so I probably won't.
This sounds and looks pretty cool. I haven't really played to many Kaizo hacks before but yeah this looks like something I'm willing to try out.

Probably not savestateless just yet though.
This hack looks really good. I'd like to play it savestateless, but not in form of a LP.
I think I will cancel this hack because in general I have not been having very much fun working on it, nor have I been able to find proper motivation. It's very hard to come up with good, creative Kaizo traps that can be done savestateless, plus I get frustrated testing my levels (feels a lot different from making one that requires savestates). For future reference, I should just not attempt to make a savestateless Kaizo hack (unless maybe you count Beat the Donkey, but I'm talking about SMW hacks). So I guess this thread can be closed.
