Hey, I have a little idea about the status bar. The only bad thing for it is that it will require some major ASM. The status bar is invisible and only a single stat becomes visible for a while when it changes, right? Let's do this: choose a key combination (probably L+R) and when the user presses the combination the ST shows up. When he presses these buttons again, the ST hides back. It would be cool.
P.S.: Originally posted by telinc1...combination the ST shows up. Under this, I mean that the whole status bar shows up displaying all of the SMWC coins, normal coins and other things.

Actually, being able to toggle the status bar may be a cool idea. Perhaps by pressing the select button to show/hide it.
However it should function as normal if it's hidden.

I don't think it's a bad idea. I think there was some discussion earlier about a pause button, showing all data (what would be cool if it was like the Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie pause screen).
I think this idea comes close to that discussion.

Toggling the status bar via a button press would likely be very easy. Since the item box is gone, the Select button is free for that purpose.
I'll talk to p4plus2 about it and see if he wants to add it in.

1. Thanks for the support! Also, yes it may be Select as I've heard that the item box is disabled...
2. Of course it should function as the version we have now. But really, it must do that. That's why I said that we will need a very, very (after 1500 years) very, very good ASMer.
EDIT: Whoops! Sorry, S.N.N., I didn't noticed I got ninja'd.

Well whatever happens with that, at least get him to add this (or you can do it yourself to the hex edits patch.
Code
org $01C510 ; Prevents items from being sent to the item box.
db $00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00,$00
