This is a thread to discuss A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. I recently finished these books and wanted to make a thread about it, so here it is!

I enjoyed the movie.
From what I've read about the books, I'm not sure I'd enjoy the entire series too much.

Ah, I love that series! Also, Kaijyuu, the movie wasn't very faithful to the books at all, I personally think that they were much better.

I read the first one a while ago, and I didn't even know it was supposed to be humorous until somebody mentioned the fact in conversation. I don't plan on reading the rest of the series. I saw the movie, but I don't remember much about it (and don't care enough to watch it again).

I loved reading the books, pissed me off that they didn't make more movies of the series...

A little note:
The series gets better with each book; getting more complex, so don't throw away the series just because your not interested with The Bad Beginning.
Also, ignore the warnings in the blurbs about not to read the book, until you're at the The End, which is the end of the series entitled The End. You will not like the end entitled The End of the Series of Unfortunate Events.

And imamelia, I'm not judging or anything, but how did you not see it was supposed to be humorous?

In the fourth grade, we read books for points, and the points were currency at the end-of-the-year auction. At that auction, I bought books 1-8 of A.S.O.U.E.
Read the whole series twice . . . Lemony Snicket's an underrated writer, for sure.
Anyway, the most vivid moment I have is in the 12th book, near the top of the mountain, when Count Olaf is speeding up in his Mercedes(at least methinks it's a Merc). That picture is as vivid in my mind is as vivid as ever, thanks to your thread.
