@GN: Heh, thanks for your review. I'm very happy you're satisfied with my level. (: I'm glad you like it. Yeah, I tend to make my levels pretty challenging. I hope you liked the overworld map too. ;)
As for the FG of the second section, it was hard as hell to find good FG for "nighttime glacier level", so I decided to use those SMW platforms. Now I see they don't fit well, but the section was playable, yeah? (:
Woah, you even made a video with the level. I'm very satisfied you liked the level pretty much. I read your hack thread too, and your level design is really pretty good. (: Merry Christmas! ;)

So I got to play the level that was made for me. It wasn't very good, but at least it was finished by the deadline. I'm also glad that I was able to finish the level I made for ima9000.

Yay here is my level! Uh... wait! "File not found."!
What happened?
EDIT: Oh, great! This is link to the mega super old file bin. Good that I know the ID of my Secret Santa so I can accsess his files and download my level from there.

Well, looks like my Secret Santa didn't make the first deadline, but I'm fine with the extra wait.
Originally posted by GeminiRageAs for the level that was made for me... considering who was making the it, I was both surprised and relieved he didn't try to toss in shoddy Touhou referrence, so that's a big plus. Overall a good level, though some spots were a slightly misleading in terms of what was solid and what was a ledge and at one point, I walked through a cloud ramp. So yeah, Merry Christmas!
Thank you very much for the review!
The level was never intended to be about Touhou anyway; the Lakitu's cloud and projectile enemy combination was actually just a coincidence :P . Also, I'm not really a fan of shoddy references either, and I knew it would've detracted from the experience. Either way, my biggest priority was the structure of the level, seeing as vertical levels are harder to design.
Still, I'm glad you liked the level, and Merry Christmas to you too! ^.^

My thoughts on the level I received:
Ghostly Block Train
A block train segment through a ghost house, just like I requested. I didn't really mind the unedited path, but I was kinda disappointed with this level. It was mostly open, empty space, which could have used more decoration. A lot of the Eeries and Boos (not all of them) were placed such that they posed little or no threat to Mario, and there were instances where the block train would go straight on ahead with Eeries going one or two tiles directly above small Mario, posing no threat because Mario has no reason to jump. Props to the Eerie that was positioned to chase Mario in one part. That was probably the most fun part of the level. The main level isn't too difficult if you don't let the platform movements catch you off guard. Once you get used to methods of dodging the enemies and remembering exactly when the platform goes vertical (I have to rely on memorization due to the lack of scenery) it could probably pass as maybe a world 4 level.
It gets worse in the boss room. You must have used the wrong sprite memory setting because Mario was completely invisible, and so I died as soon as I came in there because I had no idea where Mario was. I had to abuse savestates throughout the fight or else I would randomly get hit by an Eerie because Mario was invisible.
For the above reasons, I do not think this level should get a badge. Also, the creator said he/she rushed it, so it's understandable that there would be errors.

Bistai949 whoever you are I hope you enjoy the dolphin level you requested I know I enjoyed designing it. As for whoever is still making my level however it turns out I just hope you have fun designing it. I just know that I personally would rather have a level of lesser quality and know that the person who made it at least had a positive experience out of designing it than a higher quality level where the person was stressing out over the deadline and over little details to the point where it just wasn't a fun level for him/her to design anymore.

Just gonna shout out to my guy that I had to buy a replacement part for my laptop which delayed the level. It'll be here by new year by any luck. Gonna spend all day the 27th doing it.
Also by 'it' I mean the level. The part came yesterday. 27th is the first convinience I have to do a long batch on it.
Will say that the level theme isn't my forte...

Kudos to you, Shog, this is actually exactly how I imagined my idea to look like. lol. Well, in terms of visuals, at least...
Original idea: A dark mushroom forest.
Well, I'll start off and say: I don't exactly like that you apparently used chocolate for the sake of chocolate. The Mushroom Balls you dip in water to get a powerup mushroom was a really nice idea, but I felt it wasn't used as well as it could've been. Perhaps all the powerups could've been replaced with the mushroom balls? As-is, though, it just feels tacked on, pointless. Second, the time-draining gimmick feels really tacked on as well, and is more of an annoyance to me than anything else. There isn't any explanation for this gimmick at all, either.
However, I do love the design of the level! It really feels like a mushroom forest! I do think all the enemies you used take away from the feel, though. Not much, but... I'm still amazed you got it all fit in one tileset! Rex's death sprite when squished is messed up, though. It probably uses a space used by one of the other sprites in the level... Lastly, the music is very fitting. Especially since I love Tarm Ruins. <3
In summary: I love the level design, but I feel the gimmick does more harm than good to the level, and the custom sprite you used could've been used a lot better. If I were to give it a numerical score...Ehhh... I'll do it out of 100. I'd say about a 68 or so out of 100. Take away the time-draining gimmick and use the mushroom balls a bit better and I think it'd be worth at least 90!

So, it would seem I found a gift under today's tree. Upon unwrapping my present (patching, for those of you technical folk out there), I found something I wasn't expecting! It seemed to be an airship stage, and though the setting was right, I was a touch skeptical at first. Its layout was confusing and of relative complexity, which is pretty much what I wanted, and then, bam, switch pressed, and the ship does in fact end up at sea level. That was clever, and I appreciate your work, Sniggey!
Give that man a medal!

Yes, the IPS was for the wrong request, and the designer is going to be working for the second deadline. Sorry about that.

telinc1 made my level. My request was:
QuoteDear Secret Santa,
I'd like a night level with snow and ice, do your best to really give the feeling of cold. I don't really like puzzles, but some switches here and there are ok if necessary.
Thank you, I liked the level, you deserve the badge. First of all great music choice, I love Cave Story, and Moonsong fits nicely. The blue palette doesn't really look like snow or ice, but it gives a cold feeling anyway. I'd suggest to prevent the player from jumping into the dirt from the above like this, it's pretty easy from here and other places. You could make the top tiles of the dirt to act like tile 130, so the player can walk over them instead of falling inside it.

I'm a little confused about my level stuff. I don't know if two people did my theme. MSAhm3d59113 definitely used my theme:
Originally posted by Secret Santa Theme A total solar eclipse is coming to Mario World and creating weird effects on the island. Mario must survive through the eclipse. The only restriction I have is no kaizo. Other than that, anything from a darkened vanilla landscape to a level with hex editing/asm to simulate the bizarre changes would be awesome. I could see an argument being made for KevKot as well.
Plus, I submitted my level but it was just past the deadline (I thought it was due on the 24th) so the level that is up for MSAhm3d59113 isn't mine. I'll be resubmitting my level soon. I just have some adjustments that I'd like to make first.
I have played both levels though and want to provide some solid feedback. I ended up working a stressful overnight shift last night and want to grab some sleep right now though. I do think both of you deserve the badge but I'll wait until things get sorted out first as well. And yeah, I definitely want to try the other levels. Merry Christmas folks!

Oh sorry about that It must of been an error on my part (had internet troubles at the time). I hope you've been able to access it now and play it ^_^.
I'll probably get some sleep before playing my level, though I'll be sure to give it a good play though when I wake up

Here is feed back of my level from Pikerchu13.
The level was amazing and fun, There was a little miss understanding where the thwomp boss, he was suppose to be in an Elevator as well but no biggy, I enjoyed it anyways save state-less, Its almost like playing DKC2 Castle Crush again, Over all, it was very fun to play
I give this level 9.67/10.99 because it had the DKC2 Castle Crush feeling ^^
