OMG, I'm making a hack, that's impossible lol, anyway, it's my hack. It's going to be a vanilla hack. I want to show off some people that a vanilla hack doesn't mean it's a lame hack. Some people think that vanilla hacks are bad because they use SMW's graphics. Well, let's see if they're right. I made a few levels for W1 and one for W5.
Videos:
Level 1 - Generic Green Grassland - First level. It's a simple grassland level.
Koopa Kave Returns - It's a reference to JDC's collab hack and a level called "Koopa Kave". Ignore the glitchy Sumo Bro's. I applied the Sumo Bro. fix a while after I made this video. It's one of the later levels.
Level 2 - Sunny Slide - A sunset level. Maybe also a bit beachy.
Level 3 - Midnight Mountains - From a dark place to a cavern. I know it look unnatural but I wanted to put some light here. Well, it seems impossible for a vanilla hack without ExGFX.
Level 4 - Cave Athletics - A cave with athletic spots leading to the first castle.
What do you think?

Now that's some EPIC level design! You have a lot of secrets and the pallets look great and give the levels a nice atmosphere. My only issues would be these:
1. In the cave part of the grassland level, you have the darkend BG level mode which makes sprites that use green and red pallets transparent. That wouldn't be much of a problem if Charging Chuck's hand doesnt use blue pallet and turns un-transparent when he runs. I suggest removing that function, but it's not that big of a deal.
2. In the midnight level, I suggest making the BG a little lighter as it is very hard to see. Maybe use a similar pallet you used in the second part of the Sunny Slide?
3. In the Koopa Kave, even though you said that the blue coins mark the munchers' location, you still use the bottom most row of the Lunar Magic so they can't be seen in the level. Not that "big" of a problem either.
So anyway, like I said, you have a real thing going on here. Keep it up!

Guy! This is going to be one of my favourite hacks. =) I just wanna say off, incredible music choices! =D For the first level, the music started off quietly, then you came off with an unique port in the sunny slide. It was pretty cool. After that, I heard that mysterious port in the second part Sunny Slide. (I don't remember the name, but nevermind) I'm using it too, who would not use it? =D
The Koopa Kave Returns had also a very nice music, I also liked it very much. I was happy to hear the mysterious one again in the Midnight Mountains. I was really satisfied with the music in this hack. Then I heard a Cave Story Track in the second part of Midnight Mountains. It was just great! I thought this hack has really great music choices. Well chosen custom songs and tracks from nice games, just like Cave Story. Come on, it has one of the best VGMs.
I thought very well about the music in this hack, it was just great. =) Until I heard the music from Cave Athletics...
Guy!!! This is my Official Favourite Athletic Song I ever heard! I was hearing it a lot when I found it out and I even reserved it for a special place in my hack! I didn't think the music in this hack is that good! I didn't know what to think when I heard that Ninja Gaiden track... You have 10/10 for the Music category in this hack from me. =)
Okay, I discussed the music, now let's go to other things. The design is excellent!
- The levels aren't puzzled,
- You have an unique gimmick/atmosphere for every level,
- Levels are pretty decorated and not over-decorated, they are just well decorated =),
- The length of the levels is pretty decent too,
- Very nice use of Vanilla Graphics and Unused SMW Stuff (Berries in Dirt, Transparent Level Mode, Dark BG Level Mode, but Dark BG Level Mode was actually used in SMW Ghost Houses )
Overall, this is great, just excellent. =D I was waiting ages for a nice, fun hack. I see this hack has also Switch Palace usage, which is incredible for me. =D I find hacks 3 times better with Switch Palaces, it would be a pretty big shame if you wouldn't use them... =/
If it's also a lenghty hack (50-60+ exits), this is just excellent. =D A lengthy, fun, unique, and great adventure through vanilla GFX lands... It would be great. You've got a really good hack here, I hope you can finish it and have it lengthy with switch palaces, and a lot of unique stuff. =)
And last thing - Overworld. I'm really counting with you, I believe you can make a great, nice overworld for this game. I've seen some of your maps and they are pretty decent. =) I just have a tendence to have 10 times more fun with a hack that has a nice overworld. Otherwise it's not that fun, well, I really want to get rid of it sometimes, but well...
Anyway, I really hope this has a great overworld, if you ever need help with OWs, I can always help you, find some time and even make it if you'll need it; but I believe there won't be a situation like this and you can fully make the OW yourself and have it great. =D
Overall, you can have a really nice project from this hack. I wish you a lot of good luck, I'll support this game and try to help with your problems, and just nothing more, just keep up that great work!
Heh, I wrote a great wall of text; I hope you can read all of it and be always motivated to continue this project. Haha, I'm pretty surprised I didn't get ninja'd, it took a lot of time to write it, but anyway, good luck! =)
EDIT: Gaah, K.K.Koopa responded in the exact same while I was writing the part about the fact I didn't get ninja'd after I checked it, heh, there wasn't any response a minute ago. =P Heh, I have a strange bad luck sometimes.

@K.K.Koopa, thanks for the feedback. I know the Chucks look odd when the hands aren't dark too. I know that. I'll probably try to darken it too. Midnight Mountains was actually supossed to have a very dark atmosphere but I'll check if I'll get to work with the dark BG effect.
@Teo17, thanks . I had some nice songs which fitted pretty well my levels. Some were hard to decide but I got to work with them. Don't worry, I'm going to put 3 or 4 switch palaces. This hack will have 6 worlds + some secret levels. I'll try to do the OW when I finish the levels so don't care about it too much. I'm not the best at OW creating but I'll try. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I greatly appreciate it.
Didn't know my level design is so good. Well, it's supossed to have unique ideas for a vanilla hack.

They're not. Level design is the thing that makes a good game (a hack in this case).
And your level design is great ^^. I like how your using different themes for each level, with different atmospheres (and palettes).
Then I must say that your night levels do really give that "it's night, you can't see well" feel, which is cool.
Cave Athletics is the level I liked best (not that I don't like the others, eh). Just the fact that is a cave athletic is pretty cool, I guess. Also I really like the contrast between the red sections and the blue ones... then it came green (with a good use of the fast-autoscroll).
Ah, and The Koopa Kave Returns concept is pretty creative.
Overall, you have pretty fitting music choiches.
But I've just noticed that Geothermal from cave story doesn't keep to redefine the instrument before every note on channel #4, so you heard that strange violin playing the percussion line, because of SFX.
also *coughthatscutoffcough*
Well, yeah, good luck!

Yeah, I heard this weird sound in that song. I'm not good at music editing so I don't know how to fix it. I like messing with level mode 11. It's pretty cool and kinda underused in hacks. Actually the second section in Cave Athletics was purple, not blue . Thanks a lot. I'm now going to make the first castle. Maybe I'll post a demo if I finish 1 or 2 worlds.

To fix that weird sound, just open the txt, jump to line 63 and replace the whole channel #4 (they're 6 lines) with this:
Code#4 r8 v160
o2@23a8o5@23d16@23d16o2@23a8o5@23d16@23d16o2@23a8o5@23d16@23d16o2@23a8o5@23d16@23d16
(10)
[o2@23a8o5@23d16@23d16o2@23a8o5@23d16@23d16o2@23a8o5@23d16@23d16o2@23a8o5@23d16@23d16]3
/
(10)28
IIRC, the insert size should be the same.

Wanted to do some kind of a factory level (as the W1 castle).

Do those blocks look fine for a factory level? Wanted to make one.

For the levels that you've linked to us, I've told you what I thought of them there. As for the factory level, the blocks look great! Good job so far! This is one to watch

Seesaw Stronghold - First castle of my hack. It's supossed to be a factory with conveyors, chainsaws and other obstacles. Also a Big Boo boss at the end.

Wow, that's pretty nice level. Pretty nice, fun moments here and there, and mainly - great music! Where did you find a track like that? It's great! The boss music is alright too.
That was a nice, original way to beat that Big Boo, heh. It also seems hard, but don't worry, most people like challenging levels. ;) Good work! =)

It does look hard but it isn't hard at all. At least for me. Thanks for the feedback. I got it from the music section but I forgot it's name x_x. Yeah, I kinda liked how the Big Boo boss turned out. There's a reset door, btw.

OH MY GOD, WORMER IS NOT DEAD!? O_O
Yes, I am not! I'm gonna bump that old thread with some news: A new level!
Enjoy!
Also, I have a plot for this hack:
Mario was travelling around Mushroom Kingdom and after a while he noticed, all Toads are dying of hunger. The kingdom is lacking food and colours! Mario has no idea what happened, but he knows that Bowser did something to them. Hovewer, it wasn't Bowser, it was because a person called Wormer (yeah, I put myself in the hack... ) should protect a powerful jewel which has been stolen. Bowser trapped Wormer and forced him to activate the jewel. It happened... Mario left Mushroom Kingdom and went into an adventure to find Bowser's castle. While running around, Mario found a letter with a message from Wormer: "Mario, I have been trapped by Bowser and left in a hellish world. He's now using the power of my jewel to activate a portal to the Void. My alchemical factory is in that hellish world, called The Nether. Find me and I'll give you the next part of the code. <some garbage code for the portal>". Mario doesn't know where The Nether is, so he went on some grassland island to get informations. Wormer is hiding letters which will help you on your way.
Worlds:
W1: Green Grassland (grassland/beach)
W2: Castaway Island (beach/tropical)
W3: Grueling Grotto (volcano/mountain)
W4: Super-Koopa Skylands (sky/abstract)
W5: Wintery Wasteland (ice/cave)
W6: The Nether (hell/volcano)
W0: The Aether (abstract/dream)
Yes, yes, YES I KNOW! But playing Minecraft from Alpha did something. Part of the plot and the W2 name is inspired by Minecraft (if someone doesn't know, Castaway Island is a custom survival map for Minecraft).

Thanks.
What about the plot? Is it okay?
I hope some inspiration from our famous sandbox game won't hurt. (especially the plot and world names) ;P
