I generally prefer cartoons, which is more cooler. Sometimes I watch animes (Naruto, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemón X are example of those animes). Ahh, the memories....

I used to watch cartoons and some anime like Pokemon,DoReMi and Sonic X but I stopped since anime started to get me bored and cartoons these days are just getting stupider.
Plus, I prefer online than 4kidsTV, English Dubs are better.

Nowadays, have you noticed that cartoons tend to animate almost the way anime does? Character expressions and such...

Western and eastern animation have a long history of borrowing from each other. Astro Boy took a lot from early cartoons. More recently, Panty Stocking and Garterbelt took a ton from Powerpuff Girls.
Still plenty of differences, though. Western animation tends to be a lot more fluid and flexible.

Honestly the only cartoons I ever liked were the ones on cartoon network;...and that was only way back when I was in middle school when the good ones use to come on, like Teen Titans, Dexter's Lab in such, all the ones that use to come on that were now token off. Now I do my absolute best to avoid that channel.
Anime wins by default for me since I don't watch cartoon's anymore and I actually like anime though I don't watch it that often at all.

If you need some weight added to his argument, take a look at this (specifically all the scenes of Daffy's fantasy).
Seriously you could replace Daffy with Lina Inverse and it would look precisely like something out of Slayers. And be kinda weird given the slave girls but that's beside the point.

These days I tend to prefer cartoons more than anime .. not that I really ever watched anime much to begin with aside from a couple of shows. I grew up loving cartoons, and still love them to this day (to the point where I'll actually click on Arthur in the morning just because it brings back great memories).

The only time i watched cartoons was when i was a small child. I just stopped at one point and lost interest if i remember right. Nowadays, they just tend to weird me out. Anyways, i'm into Animes and that's that.

These days, a lot of the newer cartoons really don't appeal to me. Older ones like Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry are still nice, but the newest cartoons...really just don't cut it for me (there are exceptions, however).
So, I would go with anime. I still don't watch anime all that often, but when I do, I tend to enjoy it quite a lot, much more than the majority of the cartoons out there now.

You know, I remember seeing some of those "Merry Melodies" shorts on that show and them sucking. Maybe I should give that show another chance.
On topic, I tend to watch cartoons much more than anime, so it wins by default. One of these days I'm gonna have a big animefest.

Yes! We are the same boat; My friend
I still watch Cartoons...but only old shows like Tom & Jerry, Looney Tunes, Pokemon, Dexter's Labroatory, etc on "ON DEMAND"
And the same as S.N.N. posted; I grew up wathing cartoons as a child; and I still do, im not afraid to be called young.
But the newer Cartoons just don't satisfy the same humor and enjoyment the cartoons used to give till they made changes to both CN & Nickelodeon..
Not to mention I highly despise reality shows: Victorious, Dude what would happen, etc
The day will come when Nick will be the same as Disney Channel

Most anime fails to captivate me like a good western cartoon can. There are exceptions (I love Jing: King of Bandits, Final Fantasy: Unlimited, and Hayao Miyazaki movies to death), but the pacing of the animation and dialogue feel less stilted. The art direction also feels a lot more diverse in cartoons, and usually has more fluid animation, too. It's far more easy to tell the difference between two contemporary cartoons than anime, for me at least.
