Hahaha. lol... Yea. Yoshis Island I have played through until the last world, then like somewhere into the 3rd level, I lost all that game data.

Ah, god, I'm torn between SMW and YI. That said, YI is a bit too gimmicky, a bit too overrated, and much harder to get a physical copy of, so my vote goes to SMW.

For me it's a tie between New Super Mario Bros Wii & Super Mario Galaxy 1. I thought New Super Mario Bros Wii brought in some good new content around the time; and being able to play with three other people (that don't suck) Is really fun. Personally they don't make enough 4 Player games where you're not against each other.
Super Mario Galaxy because I've always liked the Mario games where you looked for stars for some reason and Super Mario Galaxy 1 was really fun for me; in fact I was kind of sad when I fully finished the game.
Of course I like the older ones; but if you hold them up to my standers for games today;....yeah some are just a hit in miss. (Though not really Yoshi's Island or SM64 and not counting non plat formers)

Honestly I have 2 All-Time favorites; And there SMB/Duck Hunt & SMB3
I've been playing these games since Birth, alot of Cousins/Uncle & Aunts know how to play the games very well, and tell me how they always had to help me pass a level when I was a child...
I never get bored of playing these games, I prefer the original looks from the remake of SMB All-stars lol
I also enjoy the SMBDeluxe for the GameBoy Color;
Not to mention when the arcade at the Mall used to have "Super Mario Bros. Race!" where 2 people could play as Mario & Luigi to however died first or got the farthest...
The Memories...

I'll say SMB3, because it's fun to play and challenging. I used to play it since the time I learned how to play the NES console.
And SMW, because it has a good gameplay and it has a large world. I used to discover it alot when I was a child.
if SMRPG counts, then I would put it

SMW. The physics feel pretty damn solid, and it's overall fun to play, tons to explore.

Donkey Kong is canonically in the same fictional universe as Mario, so DK64 could be quite seriously considered a Mario game by extension.
Building on this, my favourite Mario game would probably be Mario vs. Donkey Kong for the GBA. Mmm... bananas.

I've been registered since 2009, since them even though I post Threads and ask Questions.
I never got around to getting to know one another in SMWC, so my bad if I didn't know he was trolling

As Forty2 said, Donkey Kong is technically in the same universe. Take in mind the original Donkey Kong and the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games!
Super Mario 3D Land. The normal levels were really fun, I loved digging around for the Star Medals in them. The special levels, though, are... Okay, they're still kind of fun, but I'm probably not going to beat them anytime soon. Great game! :P
Super Mario World's pretty close though. Yeah, original is me.

I dunno if there IS a "canon" Mario universe. I mean, the mushroom kingdom landscape changes dramatically from game to game.
Would Yoshi's island be nearby to Donkey Kong's? Wait, Yoshi's Island is south of Rose Town. No wait, it's south of Donut Plains. No wait, it's in the middle of the ocean with no other land masses in sight.
Also, didn't Donkey Kong (the arcade game) take place in San Francisco? Mario is Missing was on Earth, too, along with Mario's Time Machine. Uh oh, everything's screwy now.

Paper Mario TTYD all the way. Awesome graphics, awesome music, awesome puzzles, basically everything was awesome in my opinion.
Paper Mario and SM64 also come close though.

I don't know. I think once you've played as many games as I have, the concept of "favorite" begins to lose its allure :b

Super Mario 64 seems to be the most nostalgic. I had never played a Mario game before it that I can remember. I only really played Genesis games before I got my Nintendo 64, and Super Mario 64 amazed me as a kid. Granted I had no idea what to do at first, just wandered around the castle doing stuff. I didn't even have any idea that I could jump in the paintings until my cousin showed me how. Needless to say, my mind was blown. I don't know if it's my favorite, but it certainly has the most memories for me.
