Seiken Densetsu 3 Soundtrack

First... welcome at this thread! I will explain why I made it: I decided to work on a Soundtrack project, SD3 (because I love the music from the game!). Unfortunately (or fortunately), this Game has near to 50 Songs! So i want to ask you, the other Music Porters out there: Can you please port an unported song from this Game? Finished Songs will be listed under this wall of text. Now: How to port?

Port like you want. Like Hadron said, the Project will be loooooong and it will be shorter if some other Porters who maybe can't port for AddmusicM or can't using Samples can help, too. Just post your finish Ports, no matter if they're Sampled or Unsampled, For Romi's Addmusic or for AddmusicM.

Finished Ports:

Song NameSong StatusAuthor
Few Paths Forbidden sampled, AMM Darius
Weird Counterpoint sampled, AMM Hadron
Swivel sampled, AMM MetalJo
Black Soup sampled, AM4(?) Masterlink
Powell sampled, AM4 RednGreen
Three of Darkside AM4 MidiGuy
Closed Garden AM4 Hadron
Nuclear Fusion AM4 Hadron & Atma
Different Road AM4 Moose
Little Sweet Café AM4 Hadron
Where Angels Fear to Tread in Work Torchkas
The Sacrifice Part III in Work Darius (originally by carol)
Decision Bell in Work MarioStarLuigi

Project Status:

I'll show a Percent Bar for a visual view:

We have to port a LOT to finish this Project (since SD3 has 61 Songs!).

Use the Userbar in your Footer!

Support the Project by making some commercial, support us with using the Userbar! Just Write img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33388751/ub.png" in "Post Footer" (remeber to write this in <...here...>). Of course you can see it:

Thanks

Enjoy, and I hope that YOU will help me with this.

I want to join!
I'll do: Where Angels Fear to Tread
So, must go working now.
As I really admire the whole soundtrack of this game (seriously, all of the songs are wonderfully composed), I support the soundtrack, and I hope it won't die in a few weeks (because I'm sure it'd take a lot more to port all of the songs). Although I don't think I'll be able to add much to the project, I'll try to watch it and make suggestions etc.

This question was directly asked to Hadron.

Yeah, I don't see why you couldn't. Go ahead (though I'm pretty convinced that that port wasn't really close to very accurate...but alright).

Just two things:

- I don't really see why should all of them be ported with AMM and be BRR-sampled. Not that I don't like AMM (on the contrary) but why should be porters restricted to only that specific field? Sure, some songs would be very hard to port without samples, but others (see my Little Sweet Café port) can sound pretty good without them. So I'd suggest you not to add this "sampled AMM-ports only" rule, more porters could join the group (not too many people know and use AMM) and even more people could use the ports of the soundtrack.

- I'd be interested to hear "Few Paths Forbidden" from you, why not link the SPC (or even the zip with the files in it) if it's already finished? Oh, derp. I didn't notice the link in your signature. Still you could link it in the first post.

Some comments on your port then:

Doesn't sound too bad overall, but I noticed some of the instruments are not properly tuned (yeah, I know it can be very annoying, but that's the sad "job" of the porters..). For example, the low bass around 0:05 is too high and the "drums" in #2 and #3 around 0:24 are also too high. I'm not really sure about the flute and the strings either...
Try to use (if you haven't yet) SPC700 player's Pitch values and compare them with the originals (in case - I suppose - you're using the original samples). It should help, I think.

So yeah sorry for writing so much but good luck with the project.

I have one unsampled port, I'll start to work in the sampled version right now :P

Here is an spc.

Too bad that I can't port by ear... some midis aren't too accurate.
Thanks, Hadron. I'm getting Rough Pitch values by ear and, sorry, I will keep the tradition... And like you can maybe hear the cymbal is also a bit wrong (it plays at Parts where it shouldn't). Rule will be removed, your reasons were very good. It won't die as I like it too much.

I'm starting work on The Sacrifire Part II

MASTERLINK:
Let your Port like it is, it musn't be sampled as you can maybe read in the Update!

Sampled port finished, isn't exactly like the original but sounds good I guess (when I finish to loop the txt I'll submit everything to the music section).

Anyone knows if there is a trick to get the volume levels of the original spc?

Great, Masterlink. Good Work. In my ears perfect. Which kind of Samples has it? If .brr, I'll use it in my Hack. There's just something with the strings, but I can't say something cause my Port is much worse... For the Volume, this Page helped me getting nice Volumes. If there's a Feature in the SPC700 Player, tell me!
Ooh, cool. A Seiken Densetsu 3 port thread, now this is interesting! I've always loved the music in SD3, but sadly, I can't port, but if there is any other way I can support this project, do let me know. I hope this becomes as huge as a success as the DKC project.
There's one thing you could do (if you can): Design a Bar which says: Seiken Densetsu 3 Soundtrack Supporter or something like that, that would be really cool (and really nice :3) And make some commercial so more porters can help us finishing this big project!
Thanks
Here. The Sacrifice Part III, bases on carol's Version. I'm gonna loop this and edit the drums!

Hmmm... I don't know... this sounds exactly like carol's version, it has the same octave errors in some parts, listen to the original instead of carol's version because I'm not a great fan of his port to be honest.

Also, I'm almost done with looping my Black Soup port, it's for addmusicM, I hate .bnk samples (if anyone wants to convert my port to addmusic 4.05 then go ahead) and I'm trying to port Another Winter but I'm a bit busy right now (my classes begins tomorrow...) to continue with it mostly because has lots panning effects...

Powell! (fixed version)
It's slightly low-pitched compared to the original version, but it was pretty difficult tuning the samples properly. Hope it's accurate enough.

Oh wow, I think this sounds excellent, RednGreen! This was probably one of the first SD3 songs I really liked. Maybe a bit less "fluid" than the original version, but that's probably only because of the different sound engine of SMW or the way how AM4.05 inserts songs. Also, I may hear an incorrect note in the last part (starting at ~1:44) in channel #1-#4 (the guitar), but I can't be sure of course. Other than that, it's pretty much perfect, nice job! By the way, did you port it by ear or did you use a midi (or something else)?
I'm currently working on an unsampled port of "Different Road", for AM4, though I may consider converting it for AMM with the use of .brr's someday.

Thank you! Yes, the fact that SMW has a different sound engine gave me some problems.

Right, there was an incorrect note on channel #3. Fixed.

Both of them, I ported it using a midi I made from scratch.

That's exactly Carol's version. Also can you give me the @4 and @1 chord of #0 and #2?
@RednGreen: Wow! I always loved that so great secrette and a bit sad themed song. Great port!
Here's a port of Closed Garden (menu screen theme). It's probably one of the simplest songs from the game, so it didn't take more than 30-40 minutes. Hope you like it, though.
Hadron, you forgot the correct panning values.
But yeah, it's basically the simplest song of the project.
Well, it's carol's Version. I'll add the Piano Channel, use Samples and other stuff, I just wanted to have a base of this (difficult?) song. Really nice new songs, especially Powell. It became realy more succesful than I thought.

I was on a Ski Trip with my class, no time for other Songs to make.
I never played this game, but I do know Few Paths Forbidden fairly well.

The BRR samples in the port of that song you guys have listed are really detuned. The xylophone, flute, and base all seem to be in very slightly different keys, causing the song to sound...off.

It's your soundtrack project, so you can do what you choose, but you may want to consider using my port of FPF (listed in the Music section) instead. It is unsampled, though.
