What is the biggest case of something switching from wacky to dark?

To me, the final episode of Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse. The season as a whole was a lot darker than the previous, and the ending really proves it.
The entirety of Dr. Horrible.
Disney's Oliver and Company frequently switches from upbeat style and humor to tearjerker/serious tone, and it does this within the first five minutes, during the opening musical number. Would you believe this is in the same movie as a complete monster loan shark who probably kills people and is possibly tied to the mafia? And if I recall correctly, said loan shark appears not too long after that scene.
Also, season 3 of Moral Orel was pretty dark compared to the rest of the series.
"Bad News", a Season Six episode of How I Met Your Mother (spoilers ahead). Most of the episode was a light-hearted story with a few dark spots, but the wham moment was when Lily informed Marshall that his father had died after a heart attack. The episode built suspension by adding the numbers 50 to 1 on various props, which was a pretty cool gimmick.
Naru Taru. It goes from what's seemingly a Digimon ripoff to a seriously disturbing look at what would happen if you actually gave kids that kind of power.
