I'll guess Shuckle, but I highly doubt it.
Edit: Actually, it could be Wobuffet. It has Shadow Tag, trapping the oponent in battle and it can counter attacks with ease. Shed Shell was added in gen 4.

There has to be an Onix or Steelix in there (all other pokemon with an 'x' have already been used or use letters that are not in there), and judging from the large number of a's and your affinity for rare pokemon I reckon Palkia, Dialga and/or Darkrai might be in there. But I got stuck there.
