I haven't been in #serioushax in a week or two due to unrelated nonsense, but I'll definitely stop by to help out.

My knowledge is a bit limited but I can teach the basics quite easily. The concept of this as a whole is pretty awesome though :>
I am willing to be a host as well if you need anymore help. But this sounds like a great idea.
This may be helpful for many people as well as for me. I kinda wanted to learn more about ASM.
This sounds great actually. I've been out of touch with assembly for a while, and it'll be nice to bring back some concepts and 'solidify' others. So long as nothing big is going on for me personally, count me in.

Also, is it like #smwc?

#serioushax likes to think it's above #smwc, but yeah, pretty much.

Can I use mIRC

Yes, you can use mIRC to get into #serioushax.
I could also volunteer to tutor. But then again, there shouldn't be too many tutors for obvious reasons. Also, this tutorial will be geared towards SMW ASM unlike the previous workshop in early 2009 right? Because I'm quite sure 90% of the people who'll want to learn will prefer that and it'll probably make things be easier for them to understand.

Looking forward to this. I'll definitely show up.
Finally,the biggest moment!!

I'll learn to make my custom sprites...
And bit of ASM...
I'll be there to answer questions about the basics and maybe some semi-advanced stuff, and I'm sure I'll learn a thing or two as well. I just need to find out what time of day it will be; timezones often screw me over when it comes to live events.
This does sound really interesting. I'd love to learn more about 65c816 programming, such as how to handle windowing effects and similar stuff. Also SPC700 hacking would be cool, and sprite coding as well (maybe I'm too much ambitious, eh).
I don't understand ASM at all. I can do only simple sprites/blocks and edit them simply like GFX it uses.
I tried to learn ASM twice or three times but always I misunderstood something. Maybe that's a nice idea.
I've known about this for a while now. I'd actually be interested in being one of the teachers, but I'm not quite sure. I'll definitely be there, though!

I would personally be interesting in sprite coding. That's one spot I have yet to learn, and there aren't really any good tutorials for it on SMWC (Iceguy's doesn't really help me much since its for TRASM).

I would be quite interested in doing this as I have always wanted to learn ASM, count me in as one, but I may not have the time to turn up. We'll see.

I was thinking of keeping content a bit general purpose and then having examples which are based on SMW. Seems like a good balance IMO, any other thoughts?

EDIT: Also, I updated the first post a bit.

For example sake, I think using SMW would be good, but it would probably be a good idea to talk about ASM in general (I don't know how else to word this). If you really now ASM you should be able to apply to other games as well.

i severly wish i was still allowed to go on irc so i could attend this workshop. aw well.

Guess i'll be poring over the logs then huh
I'm listed as #5 ASM "tutor" even though I never explicitly stated (well maybe I somewhat did) I was going to help out in teaching, but I at least want to give out some important tips on actually holding an ASM workshop.

Given the fact that Ersanio and I held the first ASM workshop, back in February and March 2009 (it had been split out over two dates, ArbeWhat's last SMWCentral hacking shenanigans right inbetween them), I would say I learned quite a number of things from it.

First of all, and what has been mentioned before to an extent: You absolutely have to keep the people in there motivated. Interaction is a very important factor - otherwise, there's hardly any use in a workshop. You might as well read a tutorial, right? The way we tackled this in the first workshop was a rather bad one at that - what happened 85% of the time was us talking and the rest logging/reading. (Most people even only came there to log)
Okay, so how can you make those users interact in such a workshop then? First, I'd say there's not much use to people who come there only to log information. Not that we should prohibit these people from this workshop, but we should definitely encourage them to join into the conversations.

Now, these conversations should be interesting. Something exciting should be produced - otherwise, again, what is the advantage over a tutorial? General SNES ASM is important, it is the message you want to bring across, but most people here don't actually know what to do with it until they see an example of it in SMW. Keep it simple at first - try something like coding a block. Handle that. Make extensive use of ROM and RAM addresses - those are still a mystery to the many people who aren't used to ASM yet. And they are simple. Exactly what you need at the start or in the middle of such an ASM workshop. Eventually, if you think you have enough time for it (remember: a workshop does not have to be held within the course of one day!), you could handle coding examples such as sprites too. I mean, why not?

What else? Well, you mentioned somewhere that it's not a good idea to keep too many hosts. While that is true, I think the other extreme is also not good. What happened last time - it was almost literally me talking for hours on end, with very little response and/or help from other users. This absolutely did not improve the quality of the workshop, as I also was quite in a learning phase back then (and I still don't even know half of what there is to know about ASM now).
Try to even the information disclosure out a bit - everyone should try to tell their bits, as long as it's organized and fits well into the schedule. When someone makes an error, there has to be a chance for somebody to correct it. When nobody is there or has the will to correct it, what's the point of a workshop?

Those were my two cents. I certainly will try to help out in the organization of this all, and perhaps I'll be there on the day itself. Chances are low though - and I can already say I will definitely be unable to get there on February 11th (skiing in Winterberg, Germany) and 18th (celebrating carnival in Breda).

If there's one thing I'd like to learn, it's how to set up the MSU1 chip for use in SMW (Granted, I don't if any of you guys have been successful with it, but still).

So yeah, I'll try to show up, but we'll see how it goes.
I would love to learn some more ASM so count me there hopefully.

If the workshop's at the right time I'll be there.
If I can make it, I'll try to attend. One thing I'd like, though, is to maybe have a little bit of intermediate stuff as well? I consider myself somewhat medicore at ASM, but I'd love to learn more. It'd be nice if some other stuff could be covered as well, though obviously, it's not really as important as the basics.
