| Tip: If you plan on making long levels, be sure to include multiple midway points. A patch for this can be found in the Patches section. |

What Am I Doing Here?
No, seriously, what? I wanted to use this character, but I don't have enough back story just yet. Unless... This IS the back story!
Meet a young Miranda Desagry:

(YY-CHR Snapshot. Palette 8)
And, if I decide for a 2-player game, Alecta Desagry:

(YY-CHR Snapshot. Palette 8)
I'm still deciding on the particulars, but I think giving them both the basic ability to run'n'jump (no spin-jumps). Perhaps they'll both have a health-bar? I tried figuring one out on my own, but it got complicated fast! (It sounded so simple in my head...) I'd better use this one instead.
I also thought of using a global air-meter, and an accessory-type item to not have an air meter. I might use this one, and add a few more checks for that accessory (and another one for green-gas rooms... For s***s'n'giggles I'll have that check after the one for the accessory, so it'll still be disabled with that accessory on).
I kinda wanted to have some offensive powerups, like a slingshot, or a sword, but given the characters... Should I have one have the Sword, and the other the Slingshot? Would giving either of them a double-jump item be a good idea? Ugh... I should probably take a break for a bit. On top of all of this patchwork, I still have to get the levels done. But I can't start the levels until I figure out how the gameplay is going to go...

Threads like this belong to the Work in Progress forum, nice hack though.

Good to plan ahead. Looks like the Wendy's girl from Wendy's. This really is a Work in Progress now though.

Her abilities remind me of LoZ. If you find a way to implement that, it would be pretty awesome! But there isn't much else i can judge from the one screenshot you have. :/

After a stunning revelation on IRC, I have decided to rethink this patch. As such, I have updated the first post with my new plans. Please note that these are things that I PLAN to do, not that I have done.
This entire sentence is a link to the current state of the patch. But not this sentence. I advise you not to apply it to your ROM, as it isn't even close to test-ready.
I will be trying to get it to work with a number of existing patches. I've got some picked out, but I'm too tired to make a full list. I'll at least be using the "Seperate Luigi GFX", and "Player Tilemap Editor".
I also posted a thread specifically to mention this ASM patch, though I'm not too sure if that was a good idea.
If you have any comments/advice on this, please say so. I'd appreciate it. (Also, I deleted my previous two posts in this thread so I won't get nagged for double-posting.)
EDIT: Ok, if I use LevelASM on the intro. level, I can set all my free/sRAM there, right? Why didn't I see this before!? Grrr....
EDIT2: Yeah, I know. It's been more than 24 hours, so I can double post. But I don't have enough new data to warrant a bump like that... I think I'll just go sit in the corner for now.

Oh man, I haven't seen this thread in a month or three. Anyway, I'm not posting here about progress, or even a lack of progress, but rather a bunch of questions that will likely go unanswered because I'm probably supposed to figure it out on my own:
• Gonna use two players, thinking on using the 32x32 patch to give myself more space. Also gonna redraw the player graphics, rearrange the player palletes, and reduce the player abilities to one each. P1 is sword, P2 is slingshot, both players will have a separate health bar, but I have to get that far first.
• Ya know what, rather than have the snorkel as an equipment sort of item, I'll just make it a graphical touch while swimming.
• Bunny ears are OUT!! GONE!! NOT DOIN' IT!!!1
• How do animate the player when duck-walking (or to be more correct, crawling)?
• Should I just have a simpler thing than what I was thinking? Like:
••> P1: (One of the Run Buttons) Swing sword left/right, (Up)+(Run) Stab upwards, (down)+(Run) Poke forward because you're ducking/crawling.
••> P2: (Same Run Button) Shot Projectile straight left/right, (Up)+(Run) Shot Projectile Straight Up, (Down)+(Run) Uhh? Can't use on ladders because the Y shaped slingshot uses two hands!!!!
••> Fire Flower (replacement): Replace Feather if Equipped. Add Laser to P1 attacks and Triple Shot to P2 Shots. Lost on hit or death.
••> Feather: Replace Fire Flower if Equipped. Grants a Double Jump. Lost on hit or death.
• Oh shoot! How do I make the player shoot straight up!
• Do I code the sword from scratch or base it off of something!!
• Panicking because I'm imagining Raocow's panic voice for some reason!!!
• Exclamation Point!
• Ok, so how do I use the SMB2 Health Patch to have the player start with 3, and end the game with, like, 10?
• And why won't my DEE ESS connect to the Wi-Fi, I've missed all the events.
