I've noticed time and time again that at the posting of this, 18,521 users have registered, but only about 8% of people who register are active.
So why do people register to SMWCentral, mainly the 92% that aren't even active?

Maybe, but I just thought about this today. I noticed you have 18,521 registered and 1,509 active.
I wonder how many people have registered and not made one single post, I'm just a little curious.
I don't mean to cause trouble, and if I am, someone please tell me.

You can figure out a percentage yourself by going into the memberlist and ordering the list by postcount. Just tally up the number of people with one post (and believe me, there are a lot). You could do the same with those who have made zero posts.
Some people register just for the sake of registering. I've done it on many other forums but never actually posted. Why? I don't know. Just in case I ever decide to I guess.

... um, to post? What else were you expecting?
1,500 Active in a month is pretty impressive, I must say.

They just want to ask a question... Which I do not understand why they do not stick around, they could be a good addition to the community. Although as many of you have seen, many people also like to post low content posts, especially stupid users like "spam man", and "mariosucks"... Well we won't announce that name; I mean come on... why are they coming back? The answer is to fill their own inadequacies, trolls have nothing better to do, other than trying to be funny but actually in reality they just are trying to fill an empty hole in their soul. But I am not categorizing all the inactive users as said... Anyway I joined to find some cool hacks, then I decided it was time to make one =) After that, I noticed it was a pretty cool place. Some people just want one thing and then go poof.

I ran the numbers once. I think about 40-60% of registered users have zero posts.

To ask a few really stupid questions, like this one:

Yeah I know, I'm an idiot.

A lot of those reasons are understandable. It was just one of those curious questions of mine.
And thanks to The Secret Exit for doing that, because I don't know why, but I didn't want too.
It seems just for the sake of registering, or just to ask a question, but a lot of people I've noticed are either banned or disabled. Are those just the many people who sign up just to spam or hack?

Thanks, but I ran those numbers a good eight months ago. I'll edit this post with the current numbers in a little bit.

I remember a majority of the people come and go, as they pleased, when they registered was to ask questions or go flame threads...
*Back on Topic* I registered because I knew some point I had to upload my SMW Hack, because I wanted others to give their opinion on my Creativity & Knowledge put in the Hack.
Also, because I asked alot qustions in the "General Hacking Help" Forum

I registered because I wanted to talk to more people, show others my non-hack works, critique hacks, and maybe LP a few.

I have been lurking around on quite a few different forums so far without registering for several months, and once I registered I lost interest in the site within a few days or even hours, because I didn't know what to say, felt like I didn't actually fit there after all or some other reason that never occured to me before I registered.
I could well imagine that this is also the reason for at least some of the people who apparently register just to never visit this site again.
As for why I registered here, I wanted to post a video of an SMW glitch I found, although I later noticed that said glitch was already used in Vip5, so it wasn't actually unknown after all. I registered so late (about one year after I found out about this site) because I was honestly afraid that I'd randomly lose interest in SMWC/SMW hacking once I register.

Chain of events, as best I remember them:
1) Knew romhacks existed for quite some time, but never searched any out until ~2007.
2) Downloaded some hacks from this site since I've always liked SMW.
3) Registered to ask some questions about Brutal Mario. (was it really that long ago? Damn)
4) 'Bout a year later, downloaded Lunar Magic and started tinkering with it.
5) Got really into it in late '08, early '09.
6) Rest is boring (more so) history.

I originally registered to ask something. However, I found a thread that answered that, so I stayed at 0 posts for a shit-long time. But after a while, I just joined discussions, started showing off my hacks, and stuff like that. I mostly lurked, though, and I'm pretty sure 5/6 of my posts were made across the last year. I'm digressing. But yes, simple questions, really.

Most people create accounts to download something, post a question etc. and they just leave the site for some reason. I don't get the point of making an account. I have seen a site which has about 3000 people and about 2500 did create an account to download some stuff (since downloading was disabled for guests)
EDIT: Oh and I registered here to knew some more about SMW hacking and just to talk.

Well, I started hacking "Sonic the Hedgehog" for Genesis, but proved to be very difficult. I was searching for videos in YT then the video "Windows 98" SMW hack appeared, my interest in SMW Hacking started.
When I found this place, I asked my questions and later ('08 and '09) I learned ASM.
