I was talking to Riolu180 on IRC, and he was talking to me about my avatar, which lead to a conversation about Maplestory, He's never played it but would like to try, and i'm a person that wishes to forget bad memories. But, i always seem to come back to this.
I know many of us had once played this game, but i want to ask if anyone would like to try the game once again. We'll all go on the same world, and just stay away from all the weirdos on the game, just stick to ourselves, no need to spend money, just simply play the game until the grinding gets too excessive for all of us. I want to see if anyone is up for this before we actually do something, because i think this will just go bad fast, but i would like to at least try.

I'd be willing to try, though there'd be the problem with GMS and people not from the USA (like me). I could probably use a proxy or whatever to get into GMS anyway, so I'd be in for this I guess.

I never really played MS when I was younger but my friend got me into it a couple weeks ago, I created a Mercedes and leveled to 105 in 3 days. With all the events and free XP coupons now, the leveling is absurdly fast, which is kind of cool.
I haven't really played since then but if a whole bunch of people from here were to start playing, it'd definitely be a lot of fun.

I stopped a month ago, as new classes coming out apparently brought out the worst in some people.
Perhaps my problem when I played before was everyone was just trying to level ASAP, rather than chat and have fun (which is annoying when I kinda favored the party-friendly Cleric class).
I will come back to it to try this, though. I'd definitely like to go into it with friendly people to start with, rather than trying to find the few bits of hay in the needlestack.

Well, if people are up for doing this, it will be the global MS, and the world we'll go in is Yellonde, since it's as far as i can remember the least used world among them all. We can start up during the weekend

Can we make it next weekend, or maybe the weekend after that? I'd like to get my new computer first, which I might get tomorrow. Or Sunday. Or who knows... :/ (My currently laptop might not run MS that well.)

I'm possibly up for this as well. I'm not too familiar with any updates with Maplestory for a long time though, I grew up with the game and haven't played for a loooooooong time.

Out of curiosity, should we say what classes we're going to be before we start this, or should we just pick whatever feels natural at the time?
With how many classes there are in Maplestory nowadays, I was wondering if it would be better to start this knowing what classes we all were going to be ahead of time.

I was thinking about this too. I feel that it should be best if we stick within the same set of classes. I would say either Adventurers or cygnus knights.

Before you start the game, you have to pick a category (or in some cases, you pick your class from this point), and you play through the first 8-10 levels in a beginner class, once you reach around 7 or 8, you have to choose one of 3-5 classes (varies depending on what you picked earlier). Once you pick a class, that character is stuck with it though out the rest of the game (though there's advancements which further divides the classes at 30, another at 70, and the final at 120). We would have to make multiple characters if we wanted to use another class.
I'm saying lets go with either the Adventurer class or the Cygnus Knights because these are the simplest classes to choose from. Differences between them are that the Cygnus Knights level faster, but can only reach up to 120 and are limited in terms of advancements. Adventurers are the original classes at the beginning of the game. They are pretty much average, though theses have a large variance in advancements (...actually, i think they are the only ones that change through the advancement process)
Beyond choosing between Adventurers or Cygnus Knights, there's either a Warrior class, Bowmen Class, Magician Class, Rouge Class, and Pirate Class. I don't care what we go with among these, if we stick together, i would rather we diverse among them rather then all having the same thing.
...i swear, they make these new classes cheaper and cheaper every time, i just started a demon slayer an hour ago and i'm already at lv 30...

If some of us end up wanting the same class, Adventurers (Which I think are now called Explorers) might be better, but the Cygnus Knights leveling faster would maybe keep us in the game longer. I'm up for either.
When we get to picking classes as either, I'll pick later to keep variety. I really don't have much of a preference for any class over another.
Also, something I thought I'd bring up; I, for some reason or other, can't help making female characters despite being a man.
However, if anyone seriously objects to me using a female character, I will make a boy for this. However, seeing as nobody called me out on my SMWC avatar and title, I kinda doubt it.
Edit: Agreed, Demonslayer is like an Aran on steroids.
Edit 2: Well, another thing to consider in Cygnus vs. Adventurer is that all Cygnus classes have the same quests. Adventurers have class-based ones for the first 30 levels, meaning we'd maybe split up.
Edit 3: Aw, crap! I didn't kill this with my earlier post, did I?

As far as we are right now; we have me, Patgangster, Daemoniken, and possibly Riolu180. We're gonna start next weekend, and we'll like it if we could get some more people willing to do this

Hmmm, I might actually give this a chance again. Part of the reason I stopped playing MS was simply because the community had become way too distanced after several more updates (The atrocious grind being another one; as someone who had a LV9x Crusader back in 2007, it was just ridiculous having to spend 15+ hours for a level).
This actually seems like a really good idea you've got here, this might actually make playing MapleStory fun again.
So what classes are we planning to use, and what is everyone else currently using?

I have trouble getting online sometimes on the weekends, so I HOPE I can be there.
Yeah, what classes do we want? There's only 5 choices with Cygnus. A set time might also be nice.

If you need another guy I wouldn't mind joining up with you guys. It would give me something to do when I'm not doing reports and such. Also I live in EST. (assuming you guys are around the US) Plus playing mmos with a friendly group is always a lot better than an occasional random party. I don't have very much MS experience though, so I'll be a noob in the group :3
