You said you were streaming but I have no way of getting to your stream. What's the deal?

Eh, but doesn't everyone know ASMT had some really terrible levels? That's not exactly a 'secret' or something people deny. :P

A lot of people like to give things with a direct association to Raocow (ie: ASMT) a free pass to, so...

Because making one-tile jumps over grinders with boo blocks is not fun or difficult. It is stupid.

Or maybe the people designing the levels should stop taking inspiration from Asshole Mario. That would be nice.

You're either not getting the point I'm making about your poor tolerance to difficult things or you're intentionally ignoring it (ie: doing the troll). Given your behavior right now, I'm inclined to believe the latter.

"I cannot be assed to do three seconds of research on who this person is, so I will blatantly accuse them of being a rereg of a person they don't even know."

You never struck me as anyone important enough that I should know or heard of before. Or at least not enough to Google who you are especially since your kind are a dime a dozen. Plus seeing as a lot of fans to a certain guy have a vendetta against this site over penny-ante BS and people who reg and immediately are so "n ur faec" with posting styles, it's not hard to assume that you could be one or the other.

oh lol I said XKeeper out of habit

Anyways it's starting to derail the thread, so maybe it would be better if you made a separate Hack Discussion thread. Also lay off the verbal abuse unless you want to be booted from the site for that reason (hopefully not because opinions). People tend not to not listen to someone indirectly/directly insulting them constantly!

Some people have higher tolerance to pain, but generally that doesn't mean that they find being punched to be at all enjoyable.

Not everybody lives off a diet of Muncher-flavored noodles.

Also: Whose idiotic idea was it to make tab actually insert a tab instead of moving to the next control? I want to punch that person in the face.

ICE BURN
How about we get back on the topic of talking about the levels?

I played Ludus' entry last night and I was impressed with the MAP16 usage. I love the way you made platforms using flipped pressed P-Switches and I especially loved this:

Very nice transparent Layer 2 use there and the 1UPDudes cameo was nice.

Count in my time before registering and you'll notice that I'm much longer than you except ;) Additionally, I don't care about the shitstorm, I just wanted to clarify that -

@MarioFan: I also thought Ludus entry is decent, despite the, although nice looking, effect the layer 2 in the pic uses, it's at the first sight really nice, but a bit diverting. Not so much, however.

Aren't we talking about the guy who made the forums which made SMW hacking popular or am I -completely- off track?
He's gone now after clearly ignoring Lucas' posts. We can get on-topic again.

Not completely, GN. He was on the Acmlm staff for quite a while. Same trouble maker as always.

So yeah, Shog. He's been around since before SMW Central was even made.
TRS - I liked this level. It felt like it was another Butter Bridge level from the original SMW and the difficulty was right.
@Axemjink: ok, but please, don't rate my hack in base of similarity to the original SMW, because i didn't want to make it like SMW.

How long does the judging usually last?

Okay, I see my mistake. However his...uhm "trouble maker" attidute was pretty weird considering how old he must be right now...well people doesn't seem to change much, however I don't know how he was before...ah nevermind...

@AUS I wanted to ask the same thing, only adding that I don't except some perfect date like "March 15th", I except something like "If the judges have enough time, within next week".

Just to point out: He's the admin of Jul. I don't know if i'm allowed to point that out, even if it would seem strange.
@AUS/Shog: I myself am already "finished," but that's only because I had the time to play the entries as they came in. I'm planning on using the remaining time to take another look here and there to make sure I'm being consistent/accurate across the board. I don't expect to do a perfect job, but of course, that's why I'm not the only judge :b

Honestly though, considering the number of entries, I wouldn't expect anything until at least the end of the month. If it were just assigning scores it would go more quickly, but it just takes time to provide in-depth feedback on everything- or at least, that's what my experience tells me.

I'd also like to apologize for not PMing a staff member- I should have just done that from the beginning.

So my posts making valid points about repeated issues I have noticed in level design that were well worded and thought out were ignored why? Were you guys all distracted by Xk showing up or something?

>_>

Because seriously. These things have been running themes here for a long time, I've noticed it, and it's a rather large problem in many hacks here.

Like, seriously. The miniscule amounts of coins (Coins were everywhere in old Mario games. Hell, the only ones where there isn't lots of coins is the galaxy games.), the -tightly- cramped spaces (Sure big Mario can -walk- through your 3 high gap, but I still need to duck to make the jump at the end.), the many many 1-wide jumps (No. Excuse. At least 2 blocks.), the lack of powerups (This one really bugs me, even SMB3, harder than SMW, gave lots of powerups.), and the item babying (note, SMW always had the items -near- where you needed to use them.)

These are happening in the hacks that have bad level design -and- good level design. It's a big problem and has been a trend for quite a while.

If I wasn't in class I'd go get damn screenshots of it because seriously.

Again, I gotta give Dinomar props on his level. It looked good, plenty of coins and powerups. Nice spaces open enough to jump through, but still tight to give a sort of "factory" feel. it was awesome.
