I'm simply curious.
When you dig adamantine in Dwarf Fortress. :V
But seriously, not frustrating, enjoyable, I guess? It's pretty subjective... I say again dinomar's is pretty good, nice and open, and while BMF's isn't his best work apparently, it's pretty fun. I haven't played them all yet though. I don't have the time
But still, the contest is about good level design, so it's less about being fun, and more about being not frustrating to the largest group possible.

Wait, what?
No, good level design is about being fun more than anything else. If the player is having fun, (s)he shouldn't be frustrated.

it's easier to make someone not frustrated, than to make them have fun, since everyone has their own idea of fun.
Hence why people submitted aggravating kaizo levels. those are fun to them
EDIT: And, as far as SMW levels go, if they aren't frustrating, your first goal, then it's easier to do better design and make it fun.
EDIT2: Just ignore me. I'm tired and programming and don't know what I'm trying to say right now.

So i wanted to see my level played on the stream... i guess you need to play it more because i have hidden some secrets: For example, in the Thwomp/Lava room, there is a secret cape feather somewhere that may help you find the last Yoshi Coin (and help you to play the entire level).
Then, it seemed that the player there found trouble to understand how to make that Yoshi grow up: well, if you have an item in the item box, you can make Yoshi grow up and get the last Yoshi coin.
pity, anyway, i wanted to see the chat next to the level video: it was what i was looking for.
Also, what does "Express reggie face" folder means?

That probably means something like "welp".

Perhaps something like this?
Anyway, I saw that level on the stream (not live) and I didn't see that pipe where the P-Switch was needed. Completely missed that.

I guess my entry just made a new folder in this stream.
I don't know if this is good, or bad... xD
EDIT: Gosh, my entry have 75 screens on the dot, that was close!
(Yeah, level+cutscenes minus credits (That are not counted towards the score))

Hey guys, can anybody tell me how my level got on the stream or even better, a link to the moment when he played it? Thanks.
I also would appreciate feedback by anybody on my level. ;)

Lucky you. That would suck if yours was disqualified or docked points for exceeding 75 screens, given that you had the best cutscenes of all the entries.

It's for Ludus's entry.

Because they thought the level was okay at best, and the cutscenes were silly and didn't add anything to the level design whatsoever.

It was that i wanted a confirmation: i didn't know if it was either positive or negative, or just a way to take around the entry itself.
That's not important, though.

I thought the cutscenes, while technically amazing, were pretty ridiculous and detracted from the overall experience.

Adding to that, a note to designers: just don't do cutscenes in SMW (or at least, don't do cutscenes in a single level project). I've noticed this in past years myself, and as cool as they may be, they're relatively senseless. That, and I guarantee more time gets put into them than the level itself.

That is not an excuse. The way you have the spot set up requires more work to get past than necessary and is also a blatant, BLATANT case of Big Mario Discrimination.
QuoteWell maybe I wanted to make it that way? If there was a problem with every idea, we would be nowhere in life.
That's why you try to minimize the issues as much as you can. You just did not do a good enough job at it. To be honest, the more I play through this level, the more I just want to give the thing a lower score.

I guess the secret route of my entry is annoying as well. I'm sure people who played my entry will think it stinks, because the "normal exit" is bad. They're gonna mix it with the secret exit. Really sad. I might post a video with that exit. Also, did anyone find the bonus room of my entry?

exactly how i felt. sure, they looked good for only utilizing lunar magic, but they totally threw me for a loop. i was completely not invested by the story. and that can definitely hurt anything when the story isn't captivating or takes you out of the experience like this one did. just my two cents.
