| Tip: Avoid blind jumps. If the player has to jump down a random hole to proceed with no indication at all that they can go down there, you've done something wrong! |

I want to replace the brown block's graphic ( ) that a question block turns into after being hit. But I dont want to overwrite the original GFX as I may use it for other levels.
Any help?

Here's an alternative solution: in the level you do want, open the window of the coin button and uncheck the first button; now you're abled to use ExGFX to replace it. Note than this will disable all the level animations, but you can put them there again with ExAnimation right?
Another: instead of use tiles 58, 59, 5A and 5B you can try to use others in a non-animated area of the 8x8 editor. Yes, it will affect all the game, so you do want to sacrificate something.
Maybe there are others with ASM...

How would I replace a specific block with ExGFX?

You load the (Ex)GFX by clicking the red poison mushroom in LM editor, select a slot and then select the ExGFX you want.
Also, you can use the Map16 editor to change the graphics.

This didn't help. Actually, I have SMAS graphics installed in this level using FG1, FG2, BG1, BG2, FG3, SP1, SP2, SP3 and SP4. I do not know which ExGFX file to edit to obtain what I need.

You can edit the FG and BG ExGFXs not the SP but you can repoint the block's GFX by using the Map16 editor.

Yes, but by repointing the block's GFX would make it look like garbage in levels that don't use ExGFX.

You can try using ExAnimate or you can try "Replacing" a tile in a ExGFX file and then use it with the block.

What I mean with it: try to put the 8x8 Brown Block tiles in other area instead of 58, 59, 5A and 5B from GFX14, as 2B, 0D, 80 and 1D from GFX17, which are the moon tiles. So you replace the 16x16 brown block with it. Yes, you now can't use the moon without ExGFX, but you can replace the brown blocks with ExGFX or use the default, because the new area isn't animated. Wow, walls of text, I hope you'll can understand x.x
EDIT: Ninji'd.

Oh god, nevermind. I know we are getting nowhere with this.
And, as I said, almost all ExGFX slots in the Red mushroom are taken.
