I am making a hack called Super Sad Mario. I just finished the first level. I am new, so the level design may not be so good. Here is a screenshot of the first level from the hack that I made.

The level design is somewhat not too good... but is okay, I hope you could improve the level...
Actually this isn't good because you missed to put more coins, enemies, and whatever you do want to put more. The secret is: if you can pass your level just running, put something more should be pretty fine. And eh. The Status Bar palette is crappy, try do don't overwrite it or your level will looks bad.

Also miscelaneous tips: try to use the Snes9x recorder for get sound, and put the link from YouTube instead of using HTML to put it here, it's dissalowed for now.

Unless you have applied the slope tile fix patch, you should NEVER connect slopes to walls otherwise Mario can glitch through these.

A new level with slightly better design.
This looks... dull. Stacking cement blocks and spamming bullet bill blasters is not good level design. You can't even see where you're jumping on the part where you jump on the bill blasters. You should allow vertical scrolling for that, because right now it's somewhat cheap. And yeah, like the other guys said, the status bar palette is messed up because the BG palette is too big, and you should never put vertical tiles directly under slopes, because you can go through the bottom and kill yourself.

Also, I don't know where your "new level" is supposed to be.

World 1 levels are finished. Please don't worry about the overworld and switch palace glitches. The only purpose of the video is to show off my level design.
There is an easier way to record your gameplay. Since you are using ZSNES, you should try the movie recording feature. There is a tutorial on how to do that here. Plus we wouldn't have to keep seeing states being saved.

Aw sick. I thought that you all used hypercam or something.
the top left corner of the ledga will be buggy because you musn't put in on that wall thing.
btw anything overwrites the status bar colors - not cool ;)

World 2 level 1
The coins kinda look too blocky: spread them a bit better. The design also looks a tad flat for my taste. You can also try to make the level more appealing by adding more decorations and creating a custom pallete.
Well, good luck.

I'll probably upload a video of the whole level soon, to show the whole thing. Sorry about the coins, I see them like that on brutal mario a lot.

Strawberry hills level I made.
Cannot get a good sense of how it looks (especially pallet wise) with the ZSNES menu screen up.
Yeah, I apologize. I was trying to make it full-screen and I left it on the menu.
From what I see, I cannot tell whether your level design is good or not. The best screenshots are those where the level is more active. The screenshots you provided don't really tell us about the level. By the way, I love the background in the first screenshot. Just so you know zsnes has a built-in screenshot feature, as the screenshot with the digging chuck was not complete (the top of the screenshot was cut out)
Thanks mathelete. I will get better screenshots in the future.
A new level.
