Tip: Try not to place secret exits at the very end of levels-- the player will basically have to go through the same level twice.

Dammit Notch FuYoSa.

I really don't see why he's neglected to change these names already.
'Cause it doesn't really matter in any way whatsoever?

If I were him I'd just stick the names in an external file and let people change them to whatever they want.

For sprite names use a .ssc file, you can learn how to use them here.

This is already possible for who really wanna do it.

I think that's because in his opinion, the name doesn't care, it's just a matter of knowing what kind of sprite you want to use, rather than naming them properly.
Why the hell is this thread still alive?

People have been posting in it because they find it an interesting topic. Don't you have anything more constructive to add than a condescending comment like that?

lol wow, It's not just "The Flying Hammer Bro's" it's the "AMAZING Flying Hammer Bro's"

also... Munchers? I'll stick to calling them Butt-Pinchers, thanks.
P-Switch and POW (Switch) is the same, as people (like myself) call it POW, since the P in P-Switch stands for (presumedly) POW. I am aware the POW block was in Mario Bros., but this is a switch version.

No, there's no evidence that the P in P-Switch stands for POW, they look nothing alike, and have completely different effects.

The only reason some people call the P-Switch POW is because FuSoYa made the mistake in the first place.

Whenever I hear POW, it makes me think of the NUKE EVERYTHING blocks from Mario Bros and SMB2 with "POW" written on them. Whenever I hear P-switch I think of the switches with the "P" on them in SMW and SMB3.

Just my point of view. In my opinion POW should be renamed to P-Switch if it hasn't been already.
Agreed. If somebody mentioned a "POW", even in a SMW hack, I'd think of the, as Ersanio put it, "nuke everything" blocks (and they were in YI as well). If they clarified, I'd say "You mean a P-switch?" Also, there's no way I know of to change the names of the original sprites in an .mwt file without them being placed in the "Custom Collections of Sprites" category. (You can still use an .ssc file to change their descriptions, though.) And objects are definitely out of the question.

I actually think it would be more accurate to call the gray p-switch a pow, since the gray one actually acts similiarly to the pow in mario bros.

No, it wouldn't be accurate. They might be slightly similar, but they are not the same thing.

Yeah, but steeledminer said that the p-switch and the pow are pretty much the same, which I had to point out was an incorrect statement. The blue switch is in no way similiar to the pow. The gray switch is at least somewhat similiar. What steeledminer said was not accurate, so I just posted something that would be less inaccurate, even if it is still not completely accurate.

Edit: this should be moved to another forum. We are not discussing hacks here, we are discussing nomenclature. I think it can be moved to the talk forum.

We're discussing hacking-related stuff, therefore this is the correct forum.

Sorry but I meant it like this, there is the POW block, but there is a switch, that can do soemthing else. Heck look, 2 different P-Switches, but we call them BOTH P-Switch. Also, there is no 100% definition on what the P stands for, so it could stand for POW. But since it's a switch, it could easily do something else. Heck look at koopa's. We (generally) call them all koopas, but almost all of them behave differently.
All I'm saying is though it's not 100% for sure, we can still call it POW (Switch), as the POW BLOCK, and SWITCH could easily do different things. I can call it as I want, and not be wrong, you guys can call it and not be wrong.
Although now I'm curious, if that P doesn't stand for POW, what DOES it stand for?

yeah, but the topic shifted from hacking to nomenclature. We are not talking about the comparison between pow from mario bros and p-switch from mario world. So we technically are not discussing about hacking anymore.

We are talking about the incorrect names in Lunar Magic. This is hack related. There's no better forum than this one for this topic anyway.

And yeah, stuff like the "Pow Block" and "Black Nipper Plants" should be fixed, but the minor stuff is fine as long as people understand what the blocks are.
we are only discussing incorrect names. We are not discussing a hack or a level, only the interface of a hacking tool. I though hack discussion was to discuss hacking itself, not non-hack related stuff about the hacking tool (yeah, names are non-hack related, since they don't actually make a difference when hacking)
  1. How are hacking tools unrelated to hacking?
  2. How do you explain that this one has been here for over a year without anybody complaining?
  3. Why do you care at all?
