I've finished about 50% of the new Extra 2 stage. It's by far not as tame as the former Extra 2 was, it's basically a "Run-for-your-life"-stage, so I think the title "Fire And Ice" is a little lame. I'll think about a different one.

I've found a way to reduce the tedium of this passage, and already modified the level, so no need to think about a solution.
No, I do not think it is too obscure for 2 reasons:
1. You made a spoiler, so everybody knows it now.
2. You've already found it, so it's obviously possible to find it. When a person, who plays the hack 'blind' finds it, others can find it too. I think unobvious hiding places for bonus stuff is okay in a World 5 level.

You know, YoshisFan, I'm only now realizing concerning that flower that you actually place a cache of eggs directly under the tree below the bridge's ? cloud, which are entirely unnecessary at that point or any point in the area, so that's actually a huge hint that something's up in that spot. So that makes my 'argument' even dumber. I don't know why I didn't make the logical connection between those two things sooner.

Yoshi's fan.. you're hack is awesome..I so far managed to get 100% up to 4-7.
I'm a fan of your hack. I'd like to know, how do you go about getting the flower that's in a nook and cranny that's in turtle shell room with bombing snifits in 4-8?

I'm assuming the only way to do it is with the shell, but I can get the shell to 2nd level, just never reaches the top.

A Koopa Shell can have two different velocities, actually. If you simply spit it out, it will be slow. If you spit it out, while you are running, however, it will become much faster and will be able to reach the Flower. It might take a few attempts to get the Shell in there while it is that fast, but you will eventually make it!

I've noticed as the hack enters the endgame that the difference in challenge between just beating a level and getting 100% is getting greater and greater, which I really compliment. 6-2 is a decently tricky level just to beat (that purple fellow's spike section being the worst of it), but if you try to go for full marks, some of the puzzles/maneuvers you need to pull are downright mean. It shows really good design sense that you can create those two extremes in a single level and still have it flow well.
EDIT: Um, it's impossible to progress past 6-3 in your hack right now. The door after the second midring just freezes the game.

Yep, pretty much seems like room 0xB7 is screwed up...
I'm super sorry about that stupid thing. But it can be fixed by changing the byte at 0x10DAA6 from [73] to [2E].

Please do, because it's possible it's my emulator, or that I patched the game wrong. (But I can't see that considering I've gotten to 6-3 just fine).
EDIT: To be clear, what seems to be happening is there's no exit point for the door. The 'entering' animation happens, then the game stays on the black screen that usually transitions entering and exiting.
EDIT 2: It's also worth mentioning that I only attempted to enter the door after having already died and respawned at the midring, because I was trying to go back for those two red coins in the red switch block section I had missed. Maybe it's to do with the midring headers somehow?

Honestly, I don't have the first clue how to use or edit things in Golden Egg. I'll just have to wait.
EDIT: Oh, awesome, thanks! I was just gonna apply an old Yoshi's Island save to skip the level but I'd feel like a cheat then.

In case I'd be unable to offer a fix, I'd find it legit to skip the level, but actually I really have no influence on that, since I also can't restrict you from using savestates.
I just hope such a thing doesn't happen anymore and that you enjoy the rest of the hack.

I've noticed a couple of things as I was playing the game
There's a bug on 5-2 similar to one that's was shown earlier in 2-4.
In 5-2, towards the end of the level where you have to use the eggs to deploy the big trampoline with near the path of coins. If you don't go above the clouds, and go left and into the hole..it takes you to secret room.
Somehow, if you managed to make it on top of the clouds and go to the same place (it brings you to a room where you fall to your death).
In 5-4, I'm trying to 100% this and boy is it a challenge, I'm stuck in the room where you have to ground pound the block and push it towards the spikes in order to get a flower. However I can't seem to leave the room. It seems that Yoshi's jump can't build the momentum to make it to the pipe on top of the flipper (I'm not sure exactly what it's called it prevents you from going in). If I go too far to the left (try to use the pipe I entered the room from) it disappears. What should I do. I'm also missing 2 red coins and a missing flower can't seem to find them. Thanks

6-3 is still impossible to beat after applying your fix. It fixes the first glitched door, but there's another one. The rightmost door in the second area with the second locked door leading forward (which I assume houses a key) spawns Yoshi in the sky for a split second before going seriously glitchy and, again, breaking the game.
Do you think this is caused by the fix you made or is this level just really cursed?

The time you apply it doesn't matter, you can apply it after patching the hack or before, just make sure both patches are patched to the same ROM. (But it's not working, as it seems, so I'll make a deeper look into it and then publish a new fix)

Thanks for the 5-2 thing, should be fixed, I made it impossible to get on top of the clouds.
In the 5-4 bonus room, you must scroll far enough to the right for the platform to respawn. Once you can see it again, without stomping it, push it right. Then you can use it to reach the pipe.
As for the missing bonuses, visit the room with the Blowhard and the two Mildes. Then, ground pound to stun the Blowhard. Stomp a Milde next to the Blowhard, so the Blowhard is pushed into the pit. Afterwards, get rid of the Mildes and you will obtain the bonuses.

Yeah, I really begin to think this level is cursed. I will have a deeper look into the problem and publish a new fix afterwards.

I've made two faults at once while porting thus there was a level crossover. I can't test it directly in EggVine, since I've pseudo-locked the hack, so it can't be edited by EggVine/Golden Egg, thus I must hope it's resolved now. Also, I've tested it this time and worked for me.

I didn't expect anyone to have such big feelings for this game.
Also, in case you did not know it, there are three more Yoshi's Island hacks out there. This here is SMW2+ by Golden Yoshi, the first Yoshi's Island hack ever completed (54 levels). Then we have SMW2+2 by Golden Yoshi too, a second hack; this time the game is much easier and level design is a little better, 50 levels altogether, since World 6 was cut and it has secret levels. Finally, incomplete and still glitchy at times, this is Kamek's Revenge a hack originally made by S.N.N., overworked by Zeldara109, but still missing some work. The level design is very experimental and weird at times (my opinion). Anyway, I recommend to play (or at least try) all of them. My personal favorite was SMW2+2, because the level design really was extremely good and it just had this original YI feeling. It was too easy in my opinion, but still.
And the newest hack is mine, featuring 60 levels altogether (6 Worlds + Secret levels). Definitely harder than the original. But, this one is still incomplete, since I am going to release an update of it, which contains bugfixes and one completely revamped level.

YoshisFan, I don't even know what to make of this. I've never encountered an item memory glitch of this nature, but maybe you know more about it.
So I made it a point to collect every single coin/red coin/flower in the level before the skiing section. I then collected every possible coin you can in the screen before the one I encountered the glitch in. Now, here's where it gets strange.
I made a save state right at the opening of the problem screen, and it turns out, the red coin in question will seemingly randomly spawn and despawn based on no criteria I can identify. I've reloaded the state while collecting/skipping the same number of coins on the way down for numerous tests, and each time, out of five 'sample' runs for each behavior, the coin would despawn roughly 2 times out of 5.
Just to prove I'm not crazy, here are two examples of the same actions with the same number of items collected beforehand (these were both loaded from that save state I mentioned).
In this one the red coin appeared.
And in this one it didn't.
So as far as I can tell and as far as my experimenting suggests, this red coin will spawn or despawn under totally identical circumstances. For the life of me, I can't guess why.
