Moving Mario and NPCs via events?

How do I move Mario and NPCs by events? I need to know because I'm making a mini-hack.
You have to trigger an event. Events can be triggered by coming into contact with an NPC, an event field, or entering a new area. Assign an event # to an NPC, an event field, or an area's entrance event in the levels editor. Click the event # button to open the event in the events editor. Then create commands to move Mario or NPCs or whatever.
I know that much, I meant what scripts do I put in to actually make movement happen.

Fake Edit: Wow, you think my 666th post would be more evil...
You need insert an action queue for the object you want to move, and add shift commands to the queue.

Thanks! Now I have the first event of my mini-hack done, so maybe I'll make a thread soon!
