I try to insert the sprites into Lunar Magic but the extension part for the extra bytes doesn't always go with it, causing 12 sprite 00 to fall. Help???

Sounds like your fault, not Tessera. We need more details than what you have, and it sounds like you did it wrong.

Well, I inserted the NPC sprite with the extra bytes configured in the Extension tab and that works fine.
Method:
-Set the sprite number high byte and low byte along with how many extra bytes it uses in the sprite list text file.
-Run the tessera.pl script and everything inserts OK. (Sprite is now in my ROM)
-I go to my desired level and manual insert the sprite
-Set:
-Sprite low byte in the command box
-Sprite high byte (single digit) in the extra bits box
-Extra bytes (syntax as 280028 <--example) in the extension field
That was set up fine and the sprite showed up in the level
Now, with the Piranha Plant:
I use the same method to insert the sprite but when I hover over the sprite in Lunar Magic, it doesn't show the Extension numbers which means that it won't show up correctly in the level.

The Piranha Plant uses only one extra byte, so it won't show up in the tooltip. Does it show up when you press the 5 key (to display sprite data)?

It does...Well, that solved the problem. Didn't know that sprites with one extra byte wouldn't show up in the tooltip.
