So Reggie sent a message out to all 3DS owners through Swapnote announcing some kind of news about the 3DS tomorrow. Any speculation on what it is?

Actually, that came as a surprise to me. I have to think that it's something related to the 3DS, maybe a new application?
It's impossible to say for absolute certain, but I'm sure it will be obvious in retrospect.

I don't know what it is, but I hope it kicks ass. Maybe Flipnote Memo, Skype, and/or Hulu Plus 3DS.
Off topic: but Reggie gave us a nice stationery for Swapnote.

I'm guessing this is only for all of you across the pond? I didn't seem to get it.
I hope it's something to do with porting Flipnote Studio to the 3DS, that would be so epic.

No, it was Reggie telling us to go to www.nintendo.com/nintendo_direct. Incidentally, the announcement relates to:
Dillon's Rolling Western (some upcoming eShop game)
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Mario Tennis Open (the 3DS Mario Tennis game; will apparently have more volley options than Mario Power Tennis and ONLINE MATCHES  )
Results of a poll for what the US boxart for Xenoblade Chronicles should be
Announcement that The Last Story will be released in the US since fans have told Nintendo they REALLY want it. (This means Pandora's Tower will come to the US eventually, too!)
to be honest I skipped everything but the last three. hahaha. Mario Tennis Open sounds really interesting. It'll have a new online mode where you can play with friends, or do an Open against a random opponent worldwide. Sadly, once again, rankings. And this time, you can get medals! D: Oh noes! More ego inflation!

Wow, Kid Icarus really impressed me. Looks like it will have a load of content and replayability. Online looks great, too. I'm sold.
Rolling Western looks like a fun tower defense type of game, I'll probably get that later since I'm saving up for the circle pad pro and MGS3D (it's not upcoming by the way, it's already out @nimono).
I wont get Mario Tennis for sure, it just doesn't interest me. But it looks like Nintendo will finally go for a better online service and make more online multiplayer games. If they ever make an online Mario Party 3D, I just might consider getting it.
And it looks like the petitions for Xenoblade, Last Story and Pandora's Tower pulled off. I hope this means Nintendo will try to get more japanese games localized, even third COUGHCAPCOMCOUGH parties maybe
