| Tip: Create a fair "difficulty curve" - that is, start off easy and then get gradually more difficult as the hack progresses. |

I just uploaded my Ultimate SMW Hacking Tutorial - Basic Edition - Rev. 2. Waddaya think? Go ahead and give it a download and let me know.
It's a PDF, so if anyone needs a Word document version because they don't have the Adobe Reader or something, just PM me.
EDIT: I changed the name to "Roads1's General SMW Tutorial - Basic Edition". Can only admins rename threads? Also, I'd like the old version of the tutorial (still waiting for moderation) deleted.

I just skimmed over some of this, and it looks pretty good thus far. I'll give more in-depth criticism once I read through the whole thing.
Also, I think "Ultimate Tutorial" is a bit too... overly hyped. It doesn't cover all aspects of SMW hacking, so it's not really "ultimate" in that regard. Just a thought.

I was thinking of changing the title anyway. Either way, the Basic Edition isn't supposed to cover absolutely everything.

Updated tutorial with new title: "Roads1's SMW Hacking Tutorial - Basic Edition". Admins: RENAME AWAY! Oh yeah, and admins, delete my the older version from the tutorials awaiting moderation.
Discuss the tutorial here.

I read your tutorial here and I have to say, it was quite useful, but I found one or two issues:
1 - If you want, add this to the tutorial:
Custom Collections of Sprites
This window shows your custom sprites. But, in order to make it work, you have to insert the sprites to the window. It's like this: insert your custom sprite in the level. Press F2 and you'll see the sub-screen boundaries. Select the custom sprite and place it at middle of the top subscreen of screen 0. Now, press Shift+F12 and LM will bring up a prompt. Type like this:
<hexID> <name>
Example:
00 Blooper.
0A Venus.
If you did it correct, the next time you open the Custom Collections of sprites your custom sprites will show up.
2 - About Global ExAnimations: They work in the same manner as normal ExAnimations, but editing them will affect ALL levels.
3 - Originally posted by "tutorial"Automatically bring up a Save Prompt upon clearing a Castle/Fortress, Ghost
House, Switch Palace, or Levels 80 and 7E, which are, you guessed it, more
TEST levels! (These will always do it regardless of whether or not "Save Prompt"
is checked off or not in the level's settings.)
Actually, "Levels 80 and 7E" are "TILES 80 and 7E", which can be any level between 0 and 24 or 100 and 13B.
4 - More images, no?
But aside of these, this tutorial was very nice and easy to understand. Good work.

I was considering putting that stuff in the Advanced Edition if I ever get around to it. I of course need to actually learn that stuff before I make a tutorial on it.

That's because you didn't load a ROM yet. A ROM (read-only memory) is a file that
contains data for something. LM can open the following versions of SMW:
• American (U)
• European (E) 1.0
• European (E) 1.1
• Japanese (J) (editing is limited!)
• Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World
No. Lunar Magic doesn't support (E) SMW ROMs.

Oops...
Well, anyway, I'm revamping the whole thing, and I'll resubmit it soon. I wish I could delete a tutorial that I submitted, though...

If you need to delete anything you've submitted, just PM a staff member in charge of the section where you submitted your file.
Anyway, I just saw and deleted the version that was waiting for moderation, I advise you to read the removal log for more stuff you should fix.
