Wow.

I hope this will be good, they've had over a decade to make it. Online play only is disappointing though...
I've played the beta at my brothers house, and I really don't like how you don't pick your new skills when you level. The amount of customization of the characters is going to be way less then d2, which is a shame because thats what made d2 a timeless game. It seems like the game is super user friendly now, which i guess is not to much of a bad thing, but it just takes away so much from the game. Whatever, its incredible to think that its finally coming out.
I might pirate it.

No interest in buying. Could never get very far into D2.
I was obsessed with Diablo II when it came out (and the first one too, for that matter). I'm pretty hyped for this - it's been on my wishlist since it was announced.

I'm sincerely hoping it isn't terrible.
It's about time they get their butts moving.

...Oh wait, I can't do Online play games. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

This isn't necessarily true. While Diablo 2 allowed for any builds you want, only very few were viable for serious play.
Who cares about serious play, other than the people who will already have the best builds? This ain't wow where other players breath down your neck if you're not absolutely perfect in your build.

The reason I'm not buying it is the online only thing. Well and lack of interest in the first place. But they burned me with starcraft 2; I'm not interested in supporting further endeavors that follow the same bullshit.
You obviously haven't played Diablo 2. Basically, it is impossible to complete the hardest game mode unless you follow a relatively specific skill distribution.

Well, there usually is 2 or 3 viable builds for each character, but that still isn't a lot considering each of them have 30 skills to choose from.

I'm pretty sure those attempting the hardest modes either already have an optimal build, or would have fun finding an optimal build.

Serious players gain nothing except less experimentation being required, and non-serious players get pigeonholed rather than making their own wacky build to complete the normal and easy modes with. Unless Hell mode is being touted as something everyone should try, I don't think streamlining builds so no one has anything "sub optimal" is a step in the right direction.

Having the possibility for a build that is, by the numbers, worse than other builds is not inherently a bad thing. It's very much a good thing. Where it becomes less than ideal is on the hardest modes and with other players; dying solo is not a problem by any stretch of the imagination, and doing normal and easy can probably be done with no talents at all. When you have a teammate that doesn't care and is just goofing off in a "serious" mode, then we have problems. That happens all the time in WoW, which is probably why they did this, but for Diablo I don't think it's nearly as big a deal.

That is a pretty good point. I suppose it depends on if I am playing online or not. If I'm just playing by myself or with one or two people, and we are not doing runs or anything, I usually don't make it to hell mode anyway, so I can play as one of the "lesser" builds.

Maybe D3s system will work out, who knows.
