Fun fact: The music industry charges $44 for a CD that cost 25 cents to make, it's that bad.

I've never seen a CD cost that much. But, besides that, they couldn't charge 25 cents because they have to pay for the equipment to record the music and whatnot. It is too much, but only to certain people, some people don't think it is too much, they are the ones who still buy them.

They really need to stop being greedy and bleeding families of their last penny.
What the companies and gov needs to do is to embrace the spread of information and realize that attempting to stop it is hopeless.
Plus, $1-$2 CDs seem more like it. Too bad everyone wants to profit profit profit profit.

When Internet bills failed, somebody stepped up and said, "Forget about making up a bill to censor what people do on the Internet, and let's spy through every computer possible."
What on Earth is going on with the U.S government these days?

And that is why piracy happens, kids! Price production low, and overcompensate! Let's coin the term today: The Hugh Hefner Method!
Seriously, though, the entertainment industry is NOT the backbone of our economy. We have much more important things to worry about in the world than a Michael Bay film, a Rebecca Black song and a classic Star Trek season. We have a failing job market, a collapsed housing market, overpriced health care, underpaid employees facing rapid inflation, and all the government cares about is "Oh, let's make as much money as possible from the entertainment industry." I'm about ready to throw my hands in the air and move to Canada, this country is disappointing me that badly already. At least the Canadian Parliament treats their people with respect and dignity.

Are these Capital City hypocrites brainless? Just look at this.
You can't just upload anything that has copyrights to Youtube without prior written consent by the company, right? The government saw all these videos uploaded to Youtube that are about to get copyright claims.
Now what you've got here is that in about 3 1/2 months, Internet service providers search through your Internet for copyrighted content like police dogs smelling through your locker at your school for marijuana.
Then the Internet is shut down. We can't access Facebook or Google, we can't play games online, even we can't get information and entertainment as we damn well please.
I'd perform another Internet-wide blackout like Wikipedia did a couple of months ago.

They want us to live in the Stone Age so that they're advanced ad we're stupid, when really it should be equal, and it is the other way around. C'mon, look at China. Their focal point is their technology and their jobs, NOT their entertainment! Even Japan, EVEN JAPAN, the country that is all smashed up and recovering and flooded from last year's disaster, is getting back up on its feet faster than we dd from 9/11 ELEVEN FUCKING YEARS AGO! We may have good technology, sure, but that does not excuse the fact that The Man wants to concentrate on making money off the fact that we have a goddamn Fisher Price toy in the corner of a video featuring a toddler walking and talking! And people wonder why this nation is getting so easily taken over, and we will quite possibly one day speak Chinese because our government doesn't know what they're doing. It's all true; they just wanna show us how much of a choke hold they can have on us, as the little plebeians, before we rise up with rifles and start a conflict over our last possible freedom, WHICH IS BEING COMPROMISED! You don't need to know the 300+ years worth of history behind this nation to know how fucked up its logic is behind the decisions they make because this one Act alone is enough to say "Well, the United States sure has gotten smarter, hasn't it?" They may as well pull the plug on our Constitution, replace it with a piece of paper saying "We don't give a flying ass about your rights and freedoms. Your misery makes us money," and abuse the hell out of us with these stupid, pointless bills that will leave our wallets empty.
My suggestion?
Let them destroy themselves, and we make the difference. Was this nation not founded for the people, by the people? Then we go and create the jobs. We go and create the new technology. We go and concentrate on what NEEDS to be done before what is WANTED to be done. Sure, this is one of those off-topic rallies in a thread about the Internet being compromised, but think about it like this. The Internet is one of the few ways we can openly express our opinions without being judged, right? Freedom of Speech is the First Amendment that the Founding Fathers wrote, right? We exercise that freedom by moving a very important organ on our faces called the Oral Cavity, right? So...we're doing the right thing. It's our government's fault for not listening to us and doing whatever the HELL they want to do to further drive us to a breaking point. Yes, the step down from Democracy is Anarchy, and Anarchy is when people run things by themselves--look at Fallout 3 for a good example of that kind of society--but the BEST type of government to ensure people get their equality they deserve while still keeping society in a somewhat temperamental control is Oligarchy, a type of government run by multiple leaders for one nation. Democracy kind of branched off from that and turned it into a 4 years per leader thing, but it was one of the most effective types of government. Rome lasted 200 years in peace using that method. Greece also! Why not us?
Our government...just wants money. Everything is copyrighted. If this passes...you know we're fucked. That computer you're typing on? A Hewlett-Packard? A Macbook? A Toshiba PC??? Copyrighted. If its picture is taken and put on the internet, you're already getting screwed.
tl;dr I'm ranting about how much I hate the stupidity behind this act, and I say we should take matters into our own hands, no matter how small we feel the change will be. A collection of small changes turns into a gigantic ripple in the tides of change.
I apologize if I made myself look like a jackass posting this. I wanted to vent after a while. And I want my internet. Do you?

Seriously?
The whole United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland) keeping an eye out on what you personally do on the Internet or e-mail? And keeping an ear out on your friendly phone call?
I guess, Internet censorship is getting strict in not only the United States, but worldwide as well. It will get to the point where ISPs worldwide will search through your Internet. I can't stress this enough.
You see that Bill S.978 tried to threaten Youtube, then we didn't hear a word about it. Then there's SOPA and PIPA in November, where the U.S people fought a two-month war, including a blackout of Wikipedia and others on 18 January. The people won, but Megaupload lost. Then in Canada is C-11, which the war is in favour of the Canadian Parliament.
So half a month ago, the United States government said, "Fuck bringing up bills, Internet censorship starts this instant. Let's spy on everyone's internet."
And as MarioFan22 posted, the United Kingdom wants to spy through everything you do.
I'd rather commit suicide than to abide by these strict rules.

Don't. Keep doing what you're doing. Show the government that it's YOUR internet, not THEIRS. So...do what you do.

It's turned into a game of Whack-a-Mole with the internet destroying bills/treaties/agreements being the moles and the opposition being the mallet.

Everyone get on your Guy Fawkes masks, and stand beside me, one year from tonight, outside the RIAA's headquarters. And together, we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever, be forgot!

All I'd need to do is straighten my hair and smile real big, and I'd look like Guy Fawkes. No Mask Needed.
Also, anyone sign the petitions that Forte put out? Highly recommended that you do.
On a side note, still staying on topic, who knows people who are seeing this as the government's way to PROTECT us? Building off of that, in what way would it protect us? What does it protect us from?
Cuz I see no protection. I only see protection of whiny corporate kiss-butts.

Well, less than two weeks away until the ISP Internet-spying scheme. Not sure whether or not it will happen or not, but be sure to download everything you need before 12 July. On the 12th of this month, the service providers will take away your Internet only IF you are illegally downloading copyrighted software.
