Alright, so I've noticed there have been a ton of people submitting ports without the proper ID666 tags. I thought I'd cover this topic to hopefully help reduce the number of people with this same recurring issue.

You will need:

~Ripping the SPC~

The first thing you want to do is find a song you want to rip. Open up your rom in ZSNES and get to where the song plays in your game. I suggest placing it on the title screen or in level 104 (Yoshi's House) for easy access. Create a savestate before you think the song is about to play, and just as the song is about to play, press F1 to open up a menu.

Press up/down to navigate to "SAVE SPC DATA", and press ENTER/Return when it's highlighted on the menu. You should get an SPC file where you ran your rom. If you get a .sp1, .sp2, etc file, it shouldn't make a bit of difference. Just rename the extension to .spc (PLEASE! It's really bothersome as a moderator!) or re-rip the SPC after deleting all the .spc, .sp1, .sp2, etc files your rom created. You now have an SPC that you can play with in SPC700 Player and SNESAmp!

~Making sure the SPC works correctly~

Okay, we have the SPC. Before we waste any time filling in valuable information, let's make sure the thing even plays correctly! Open SPC700 Player and enable echo rewrite. You should only have to do this once. If it's disabled for some reason, re-enable it if you need to rip another SPC. After you've enabled echo rewrite, open your SPC up in SPC700 Player (or drag/drop it onto the program), and it should start playing. If it sounds funky to you or the song crashes, the song will not be acceptable on SMWC, and you will have to check for anything that could have gone wrong in the port, like a bad echo command or you were missing the AM405 header. < The highlighted text does not apply to AddMusicM ports.

If your SPC passed this test, great! If not, you'll have to check your port before ripping another SPC.

~Editing an SPC's ID666 Tags~

So now we have a fully functional SPC. Now let's add some information to it. (Song name, Song Length, Composer, Porter, etc)

By now you should have Winamp and SNESAmp installed. If you haven't yet, do so now. Open your SPC up in Winamp and your song should start playing. While the song is playing, right click on Winamp and select "View File Info" (or double left-click on the song name).

This window should pop up:

By this point, everything should be straightforward. Just be sure to click "Apply" when you're done. Make sure that your song loops at least twice. If you don't know all of the information about your song, just fill out what you can.

Anyways, I think that should be it. Hopefully this tutorial helped some of you out there, and I hope to see future ports with new ID666 tags!

Noteworthy. If you are one of the people who hates Winamp (as a few do), you can also edit ID666 tags using SPC Tool for Windows. Just hit F3 and go nuts.
You might also want to add notes about ripping SPCs with SNES9X and editing the tags with a hex editor.
I think foobar2000 and kode54's SPC (and other emulated music) player plugin (foo_gep) should be mentioned, too. It's a pretty efficient way to edit SPC tags and more accurate than SNESAmp.
